Yup, she is really messing with you! :p
And for tonight's entertainment she jumped as I pushed the plunger down and didn't get her full dose. Does anyone else's cat do that? It's become a thing with her. This was the first time the needle came out. She's also famous for shaking her head as I poke for blood and ripping her ear.

Do you let the syringe sit out for a bit or warm it between your hands? Mr Kitty used to do that sometimes when it was cold.

As for the ears...well...I use a death grip haha I hold the ear with the cotton round behind it with my left hand, poke with right. Set lancet down, pick up meter with strip already ready to go

I do this too haha. I learned that the death grip was necessary after too many times of George pulling his head away and shaking off the drop of blood.

I do the exact same thing and press the cotton round on top of his ear at the end for a few seconds…this has definitely been the best method for us.

Yes! I got hit in the eye with blood a few too many times and had to figure something out before I became Catwoman....or at least got a nasty infection

The syringes are always out....the insulin.....how long can it sit out?

I try the death grip, but the healthier she's gotten, the more octopus-like she is. Her right ear seems to have less feeling, but I cannot for the life of me get the right angle on that side. And that's her little ear, too. Her left one is normal size, but it looks like it's been thru the war with me jabbing away and her shaking me off. And yes.....there is blood spattered everywhere.

Lantus can actually be stored room temp supposedly (I'd have to check the package insert again), we just recommend fridge because it'll keep longer. At her small dose, doesn't need long. 10 mins? Or if you have warm hands, just rolling it gently between warm fingers.

I used to have to have Mr Kitty in precise positions, but I've gotten almost acrobatic over time lol

I'm going to try leaving it out for a bit tomorrow. Stay tuned!
