It's been a while! Thinks have been ticking along. Good run of greens and blues over the last week. She hit 49 yesterday so earned a decrease last night (she has IAA, @Wendy&Neko recommended the 50 cut-off instead of 40). Ketones ok, back to 0.4 yesterday.

She's been fussy with food (6 open cans smorgasbord) and not eating as much the last couple of days so I've given her ondansetron. Still being picky so I got a cerenia in her on only the 2nd attempt! It was in a gelcap dipped in a little butter to help it slide down.

She puked about 30min later, liquid and Fancy Feast trout flakes undigested. Didn't see any of the other foods she'd eaten - paw lickin chicken and various pates. She went back and started eating again about 15min later.

Question
is, does this deserve a vet visit tomorrow since she threw up AFTER cerenia?

Thanks all, happy end of Thanksgiving break!!

Sorry she’s not feeling well today. It’s good she ate again. See if the food stays down. If it dies probably you don’t need to see the vet.

I think that the Cerenia would not have had enough time to do its thing yet. I wouldn’t take her in just for that reason (although you may want to make a vet visit for other reasons or if she continues to feel poorly.) I am sorry that she’s not feeling great today and being picky.

Thanks for the input, team! I made the mistake of visiting Dr Google "vomiting after cerenia" which led me to the vet question. It bothered me that the very med supposed to prevent it seemed to cause it!

She has eaten more and given me another green, no more vomiting. Nothing seems drastically wrong, she just seems off her food.

I was just thinking about you yesterday and hoping that you had a happy Thanksgiving. Did you get together with your sister?
You're so sweet. I got together with some friends; my sister and her family went out of town. Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving too! How many fosters did you have waiting for bits of turkey??!!

We went to our cottage in the mountains. We took Ginger with us. It was sad for me since last year we had Darcy and Julius with us. Neither of them are with us anymore. But Ginger did enjoy herself! She’s our calico.

Oh, and I have had the same thing happen before with vomiting of Cerenia! So frustrating since I would search through the vomit to see if I could find the pill. Since I never found a pill, I had to assume that I could not give Cerenia again for another 24 hours.

I shouldn't laugh but I did sort of look for it. No sign. I just convinced myself it was the cerenia that caused the vomit which seems completely counterintuitive. I think I've used up my quota of successful cerenia pilling attempts for the next few weeks. At least we've got a hang of the ondansetron now :) poor Minnie with me holding her in place, jaw closed, until it's gone. At least my aim is better so she hasn't been able to spit it out so often!

You’ve come a long way baby! (In your pilling technique!)

@Wendy&Neko recommended the 50 cut-off instead of 40).
I think I recommended that when she was doing the quick step down dose, ie. IAA might be breaking. Now that she's going the other direction, I'd consider the under 40 for a long term diabetic, or use the 3 between 40 and 49 for a cat that doesn't hold reductions well. Of course, you can always see how she does on this one before deciding if you want to change.

Just wanted to stop by and say hello to my old Board buddies! It's nice to see you all. I think about you often though we haven't posted in some time. Hope you all had lovely Thanksgivings (for those in the US), and all good thoughts to you and your babies!
