I agree. I always find that misleading also. I’ll tag @Sienne and Gabby (GA) @Marje and Gracie @Wendy&NekoI also want to clarify, I find that sticky misleading. If you read the paper, this is what it says (page 3)
At a cut-off value of 2.4 mmol/l, the sensitivity and specificity was 100% and 87%, respectively, for the diagnosis of DKA
Which I understand to mean that if you hit 2.4, DKA is basically guaranteed
Just to add - anecdotally, Mr Kitty always reads a baseline of LO to 0.4. When he starts hitting 0.8 I know something is brewing, but yes not DKA-level worrisome until creeping up towards 2. Better to be proactive
