Hello - I went to the vet last night and she did not do blood test. They put him on fluids and warm blanket because his temperature was low. She did not know if he was acting like that (ataxia) because of the gaba or because of sickness. I decided to take him back and watched him.
This morning, he peed on the carpet in front of his litter box. I am wondering if he tried and did not have the strength. He is weak, very soft. Cannot walk.
Yesterday night during the night I tested him for ketones and he was at 0.1.
Blood pressure average was at 169 - wondering if caused by flare up (or other) or CKD progressing.
He has not eaten for 16 hrs. He has been drinking a lot of water.
I gave him a small dose of insulin regardless.
I will take him back. I am surprised she did not do bloodwork and should have asked.

Any ideas what I should be looking for in terms of tests and questions?

It’s very surprising no blood tests were done. What’s he getting for nausea? The gaba could be part of the problem I think. Are his gums pink and moist?

He received 1 tablet of gaba - normally received 0.5 but vomited and have him another half as he was meowing because of pain and cramping.

It has been more than 12 hours. gave him the gaba 17 hours ago. I understand he has CKD so may take more time for his kidneys to flush the drug. However, he has been on fluids for 3-4 hours so I do not know what to think...

What kind of spasms? I wouldn’t be worried about 169 bp. How’s his breathing? Gums?
breathing ok , gums ok, but absolutely no strength. Should I go back to the vet and order blood test or wait more? He cannot stand because he is weak and no appetite. Seems like a pretty bad flare up but wondering if I am not missing something. The fact that his BG is going down would indicate that pancreas is less inflamed, no?

Not exactly. You have never syringe fed him? Try and see if he will eat a little by finger feeding then.

Every cat is different but if he doesn’t eat at least half of his food within a couple days there’s danger of fatty liver. You can get feeding syringes at the pet store and mix some food with water. Let me see if I can get you some information.

Hello - I am so happy that his regular vet, although she was not taking patients and needed to leave to get her kids, decided to stay to examine Djoko and even stayed longer to interpret his bloodwork. She called me late afternoon and told me he had not eaten. She recommended to hospitalize him because he could not walk straight (wobbly) and would not eat and was bit dehydrated. She said he lost muscular mass and weight. She found his loss of weight quite alarming (10% of his body weight in 2-3 days). She found his kidneys small but said he has ckd so normal. The kidneys values were all within range but ALT was quite high. So something is up with the liver- or high values because of the pancreatitis flare up.
Because he had not eaten around 5h30pm (so more than 24 hrs) and was not interested in any food they presented him, she put him on appetite stimulant. I called around 8PM and he had eaten his tree options of meal which is encouraging. He will stay on fluids the entire night and will be updated tomorrow morning.
Thank you for checking.
