Hi Auntie Diane, how are you? How is Ashley feeling today? Did the little stinker Tyler :kiss::kiss: wake you at 3am? How is your dad doing with the monitor? Are they making sure he is okay? Dolly is very congested already. The steroid drops just bubbled and did not go in her nose. I am going to try putting little remedies or Ayr in a syringe and see if it clears some of the mucous. Glad you got lots of sleep. Talk in a bit. You are the best auntie. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
@Diane Tyler's Mom

Hello, I am in a panic. I ran out of my BD syringes that I had ordered on line because Walmart did not have any of the ReliOn syringes. Tonight is my first night back with the Relions again ( months later) and the measurements look so different. If I use the top black line there is insulin above it, possibly .25 units. I had one BD left so I used that. I am afraid to use the ReliOn because of the variance. Do I just measure without the lines from the top of the syringe?
@Marje and Gracie @Sue and Luci @tiffmaxee @carfurby @Suzanne & Darcy

Oh gosh. I only ever used the B-D syringe s because I liked them and the markings were very consistent. So I am assuming you don’t use calipers. If I were in a pinch like that, I would hold my last B-D syringe up next to the Reli-On syringes and compare to try to get as close to what I had been giving before!

I think I figured it out. If the plunger stops on the black line then that is where the insulin begins, correct? Sorry, sick kitty and everything stresses me out. Need consistency somewhere in Dolly’s life. Every step forward I walk two back. To many other things to do with her care without worrying about something this important.

I do use calipers, of course. But it is where I measure from, the lines or the back with no lines. I think I figured it out.

Yes. Hopefully the black plunger aligns with the first line on the barrel though!

I use calipers as I think you do too. I don’t look at the lines, only the top of the syringe where the stopper can’t go any further.
Thanks Katherine. The BD syringes black line aligns with the stopper. I always checked both ways. I think I am just too tired. Putting Dolly through the nose drops, the showers, the Ayr and pain meds, she hates it all. Getting her to eat. The days have just been so hard on both of us. Of course, the fact that this treatment failed does not help but I am continuing per the IM doctors staff. She is out till tomorrow.

Sorry I wasn't around for your question yesterday, but it sounds as if you figured it out. I understand the difference because I used Relion as well until Walmart didn't have them any longer and then I ordered BD. So yes, where ever the stopper stops is the 'beginning' and then using your calipers pull the insulin down to where ever...and measure the difference between the invisible line (on the Relion)...I think I'm going to stick with the BD's - I just don't have the time, energy, etc. to be running to Walmart all the time only to find out they don't have what I need. At least with AWD they deliver! And I think the syringes are nicer.

Who knows with the shortages what we'll be in store for, but I'm switching to BD's at least for now and the foreseeable future.

Hope you are doing ok Adrienne. We're packing up this week and will be leaving for Florida on the weekend...

Thank you so much Sue. Sorry I haven’t been in touch. Talk soon. I hope Bill is doing okay and Luci is being a good girl. :bighug::bighug:

No, no...don't apologize...I've been wrapped up with various projects - not the least of which is preparing for this semi-annual migration... No worries at all! Yes, we're doing fine..just muddling along.. I think this Season will be better - as far as health issues go - than last Season! Let's just hope it stays that way :)

A lot of yellow - almost flat yellows is a good indicator that better numbers are just around the corner.

I'd give her another day at this dose...just my opinion.

I doubt that shredded chicken (no carbs in that) or a sardine is causing her higher numbers - I would however wonder about her other health issues causing her some distress and hence the increase in the BG's.
