I used to to BID ondansetron -- mostly it worked -- you can play it by ear and see how she does. It can be constipating so as long as I could get away with BID that was better.
Before Ruby had her endoscopy and was diagnosed with her SCL she had a lot of trouble eating so I did the Ondansetron/Cerenia/cypro cocktail. These days I only give it as needed because I have a suspicion that these antiemetics cause constipation with her. Also, if I have to give her the meds to eat for too long while she is on pred, then the inflammation of her intestines is getting worse rather than better and another ultrasound is needed to see if bigger guns. i.e. chlorambucil, is necessary. So far there has been no real cause for concern. She has temporary bouts and then she gets over it on her own.
My vet said Ondansetron can be very constipating and so can Cerenia, but to a lesser extent.
Yes, you were the one who pointed that out to me and when I look back on my notes of when I give the antiemetics and how long it takes her to poop, I see a pattern supporting your vet's thoughts. Those poop emojis are very helpful!
Yes, the Ondansetron is constipating Bandit and I don't think she needs it. Switched to BID from TID and will probably stop it and see how she does without it.
