Hi everyone,

Ruckus has been in yellow and pink numbers and has just turned into blue and green numbers today. He has been on Cabergoline for two weeks now and it might be working or maybe its the high dose of insulin, 22 units. I'm wondering about his shot tonight, his dinner and shot is in 30 mins.

Thanks for everyone's time to read this,

Ruckus and Zorrain

@Wendy&Neko I want you to take a look at this. I hope you are around. I feel like Ruckus needs a recuction, and I have ideas. But what do you say? Isn’t it interesting how the Cabergoline seems to have kicked in so suddenly!

I just PM'd Wendy. Hopefully she can jump on.
Thanks, Katherine. I can’t even tell if Wendy is on the board this evening yet. But I would go with a half dose tonight to drain the depot and keep up the testing and tomorrow would do a reduction. Ruckus has just really responded to the Cabergoline all of a sudden. We have been waiting for this to happen!

Please reduce to 20 units tonight. It's possible cabergoline is doing it's thing. I've seen it happen as early as 7-10 days after treatment starts. During this time, you will have to be cautious and take reductions for safety, perhaps if he goes under 70. Though I honestly don't know what dosing method you are following. Since you don't seem to be able to regularly test at night, maybe below 90 is a good reduction point for you and you should follow SLGS.

Does 20 units not seem high? I don’t know if I feel comfortable with that.

If you don't think you can get any tests in tonight, you can do a one time reduced dose, say 10 unit tonight to reduce the depot, and go back to 20 tomorrow. That's almost a 10% reduction in dose.

I can test tonight but 20 units seems scary

Wendy suggested 10U tonight....that's a 50% reduction in dose so should be a pretty safe bet. As long as you have all the supplies you need (high carb food, syrup or honey, lots of strips) and can test tonight, YOU are in control of his glucose levels!
