9/26 Jill AMPS 193 / +2.5 99 / +6 111 / PMPS 92 / +2 102 / +3 91 / +4 95 / +11 215

PMPS tonight is making me worry so I reduced the dose by .25 unit and gave her med carbs for her meal. Her shoot and meal times are a little screwy so maybe that’s why she’s lower. Totally my fault for having a few hours of a social life! Will test again at +2 to see what’s what.

…shoot low to stay low…..

Hi Debra, I noticed that you don't get a lot of late cycle tests. It might be helpful so that when PMPS comes around and you have a lower number than you are used to to see the pattern. These days I *try* get a +9 or +10 just to see where Ruby is trending so that when I get a lower than usual shot number I have an idea of whether she is heading up or down. If she is heading up, then I am more confident about shooting because I know I will be shooting the number she will be several hours later at onset that will likely be higher. If she is heading downward, I know to get a +2 to make sure she is safe.

That’s a good idea and I often intend to but the later cycle gets busier for me and I forget. Gonna make that a priority! I’m setting alarms and will be checking on her for several hours.

Your +2.5 earlier in the cycle would have suggested perhaps getting another test before +6, since that was a nice little drop from AMPS. Sometimes you can get a double dip with Lantus, but the +6 to PMPS isn't a significant drop, mostly flattish actually given meter variance. You've shot similar numbers before, with TR it works best to be consistent with dosing, since Jill didn't earn a reduction.

I know what you mean. When Ruby was tightly regulated I did the late cycle tests more out of a feeling of obligation than need. Now that her cycles are bouncier and she nadirs pretty often at PM shot time, I've found those late cycle tests to be very helpful.

I couldn’t get another test this afternoon because I wasn’t home :( she only messes around when I’ve got plans.

You’re right about the reduction. I still get nervous shooting under 100.
