Havent found the secret sauce to Lando gaining his appetite back, but his energy is back to his ol self!
Also some nibbling here and there. Am going to try benito flakes and parm next
For now i am syringe feeding and shooting .5u

My sympathies with the syringe feeding. I’m always amazed when I read of cats that like it! The appetite should be starting to increase. Does he act sick?

Hi elise! Im super lucky he doesnt hate it. He tolerates it.
The strange thing is that he hasnt seemed this well in a long time! He is doing behaviors ( good ones) that i havent seen in months.
Wondering if it could be a bad tooth? Hes throwing every other illness into the ring ;)

Well if it’s a tooth the bg could come down after a dental. When was his last one? Did the vet say it’s needed?
Oh the tooth guess is only just a guess.
I will have to have a conversation with my vet!
But, when lando tested high BG in his anual checkup the vet did say he became diabetic overnight ( hmmmm)

I get that. Mocha is having what I hope is nothing serious in her mouth and I want to look more closely and take a picture but she won’t cooperate. I’m praying she ate some of her sister’s food and it’s her allergies.

How’s he eating? Less syringe needed I hope? :bighug:
Good morning Elise! Thanks for checking in!
Well last pm (12 hrs ago) he ate some of his dinner on his own for the first time.
This am he was picking again.

i spoke with the vet and the vet suggested some blood work to see if anything has changed.
Landos last vet apt ( 3 ish weeks ago) there were no signs of teeth issues.

i am going to try to give lando a few more days of trying to eat before i put him through more vet appointments since he REALLY seems like his old self.i hate to mess with that

IF it’s pancreatitis it can take a few months to get him eating. How often are you giving ondansetron? Are you also giving an appetite stimulant?

So @tiffmaxee now i have to ask…. Why did my vet not know this? It it that they are just overwhelmed right now? Or is it that some vets are generalists and dont deep dive into all this?

I don’t know. I didn’t want to take the time to look for the pancreatitis dosing and the article above came up first. It gives correct dosing.
