Mimi 9/13 higher dose AMPS 204 +6 196 PMPS 94

It’s not a high dose. Some cats are on 40+ units. A cat needs what it needs. She has responded well to the increase. If following TR I see some unearned reductions. As a long term diabetic she earns reductions if 3 times in the 40’s or if under 40 even once.

What if I don’t allow her to go to 40 - like her +1 is 62

im scared to let her drop that low and then try and scoop her back up hoping she rises. That’s where TR gets confusing to me. I don’t want to risk she’ll go into the 40s right?

should I wait and see if she will or intervene now with higher carb to prevent it?

As long as she will eat a brief drop into the 40’s won’t hurt her. You have to test often until staying up without food. It’s scary at first until you see how she reacts. Max dropped into the 40’s and even 30’s but never had a symptomatic hypo. If over a year diabetic to earn a reduction they need to drop into the 40’s on 3 different cycles or under 40 once.

Right so her body knows how to handle low numbers? She’s been in the 20s before but not in way over a year.. and it was me being unplanned not knowing she would drop. But since then I’ve intervened with HC early on so I could either leave for the day and not worry or go to sleep. So I don’t always know but I do see she’s had failed reductions so maybe she didn’t need the decrease? It’s still tricky to me on what to do.

just fed her some more LC food . I usually feed her at +1 sometimes +2 not +1 - depends on my mood. It’s probably closer to +1.5

The failed reductions are why you are needing to increase. You also were not testing enough fur TR if followed correctly. If you prefer not testing and being able to leave her more, you could switch to SLGS. If you are going to follow TR you need at least 2 tests each cycle. I’m sure you know that if a +2 is a lot lower than the preshot it will likely be an active cycle and more tests are needed.

If I can’t get more than a PS on a cycle I can’t do TR? Yes there were quite a few times I only got a PS and didn’t get a number till the next PS. Do I still need to do curves on TR?
What about a PS and then one test during the cycle/ is that still not TR?

Hmmm her +2.5 is 84 ! I haven’t fed her since +1.5… I’ll set an alarm to get a nadir - im going to feed her some more and I’m going to sleep

TR requires a minimum of amps. Pmps, and one other test during the cycle. At times more tests are needed. Curves are not needed but you need to test at different times to see the nadir. Otherwise how would you know when to change the dose?

Posting a new condo, mimis +5 last night was 74 and I didn’t get any more because it was close to the nadir and I was trying to sleep somewhat. AMPS is 68 - do you think she surfed last night? Nervous shooting the full dose but maybe this is what she needs to train her pancreas again!
