When do you have to leave?

When you get a number below 90 with SLGS, you stall without food and check in 20 mins to see if it is rising. If it rises above 90, you shoot. However, you want to be able to monitor if you shoot a lower number than you have before. I would have suggested a skip if Cooper did not have a history of DKA.

Can you test in 20 mins and see where he is?

I just prepared his food but I can hold off. I have to leave latest in 30 minutes so I can wait and test him again in 20 minutes.

He is at 100 now. He has been just meowing non stop since his amps because he saw the food.
Ok. Feed him and shoot. He has earned a reduction to 3.5U.

You may want to ask your partner to feed slightly higher carbs at +1 and +2 (10-12%) just to keep him safe since no one can test. He shouls bounce from the lows but better to be safe.

All I do have in is dry kibble and fancy feast gravy lovers which is 15%. I’ll have her give him a little bit of the gravy lovers in an hour.

Kibble is HC. She can add a little of the 15% to his usual LC and feed at +1 and +2.

ok. I will have her feed him a little of the 15% and a quarter of his LC now and in an hour. Now going forward for the next several days his dose will be the reduction dose correct?

Don't rush. Cooper will probably be higher from bouncing.

I ended up coming come as my fiancé said he seemed like he was acting “off”. Extremely tired and not wanting to be touched.

She gave him some 15% carb wet food and his LC at +1 and +2 and then his 3/4 can of LC at +6 and he’s at 237

Without tests it's hard to say if he dropped below 50. But when they're new to normal numbers they do feel low energy in them - like going off caffeine.
I know you have said this is not possible, but it would be good if your fiancee could learn to test him - no better way to keep him safe.

We do plan on and hope that we can get her comfortable to test and give him his dose soon. That is just going to take some work but we are hopeful she can get there

Marc, please tell your girlfriend that I was absolutely panicked when I learned that I needed to start home testing. I just couldn't do it until a vet tech told me that I was risking Susie's life by not learning to home test. It was hard, the first couple of times, but if you have all your supplies in one area, and a safe and comfortable place for Cooper to be tested, it will be so much easier for her. You are doing it. Have her watch you as many times as possible. Please, get her to home test so you don't have to worry so much. If she needs any help, or advice, show her how to log on to this site. There is not a single person that will not want to help her.

Susie is so comfortable with it now that she will actually lie down on the site I do the testing and wait patiently. Good luck.
