9/9 Ruby AMPS 77/+11 63/PMPS 64/+2 56/+3 96/+4 162

Hi Katherine, enjoy your work day. Frank certainly proved his ability to deal with Ruby’s initiation test yesterday:p, I guess she’s not finished testing him yet :nailbiting:, great job Frank. Good luck with the meds. Be nice Ruby :D. Hope today is a beautiful blue day  for Ruby or high greens. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi everyone, I am at work right now and can’t update my thread title but DBF has been testing and feeding MC and HC to Ruby a lot today and I am freaking out. Should we skip tonight or give token dose? I will not be home until at least PM +2 and DBF is giving her the shot and I need to know what to tell him to do as I can’t think very clearly right now. Please help. @tiffmaxee @Wendy&Neko @Sienne and Gabby (GA)

I will look. How long until shot time? Is it +7 now? Long way until pmps. If feeding a lot of hc it’s a good idea to reduce to 2.5 though.

Katherine, when did you change syringes? She might be getting more insulin. Do you have digital calipers? Any of the old syringes left or even a used one to compare using water?

I changed syringes last night. I can’t test syringes, I don’t have any of the old ones left and I won’t be home for a while.

I have calipers. Frank is using them for the shot tonight to measure out the 2.75. I was just nervous about reducing tonight because the calipers are set for 2.75 and if we had to reduce then Frank would have had to use the lines on the syringe because he doesn't know how to reset the calipers and I don't have time to explain to him how to do it. I'm working until at least 10 PM or +2 tonight.

Looks like a second dip from +10 to +11, you should be good to go. As long as she can be monitored. It's great to see Ruby back in green! :D

Then my thought on the syringe switch isn’t an issue. Good to know.

Your welcome. Do you have digital calipers? I’d get some. When I switched syringes I did and it makes the dosing so much easier.
I really rely on my calipers. My BD syringes are awful and I paid a lot for them. Everyone is different and has crooked lines. The ReliOn, which Walmart was out of, were so much cheaper and not half as bad. Frank is doing such a great job. I don’t think you need to worry about that ( I know you already know that) but Ruby seems intent on staying low. I know when I was in the hospital and Rob had to take over, with no training, I just had to trust that Dolly would be fine under his watch. She was. Sending big hugs and prayers that Ruby starts behaving. :nailbiting::rolleyes::cool::cat::bighug::bighug::bighug:

It makes me so nervous to have her be in greens when I can't be there. I know this should make me happy but it's been so harrowing because I can't give the situation my full attention. I am at a convention center trying to sell art and talking to clients all day.

Wow. Katherine! Just catching up on your day before I go to sleep. I can’t believe how she stayed green all day. And she’s still green except almost out of green now. If this happened when Frank was out of town and you were working… I shudder to think of it. I guess you would adjust her dose ahead of time in that situation though.

I hope you sold some art today!

I got home and tested and she's bouncing already to 162 at +4. I'm SO glad we didn't reduce. Thank you so much @tiffmaxee and @Wendy&Neko for talking me off that ledge! I had the most intense day of my working career in years and juggling Ruby's numbers was not part of the plan so was totally freaking out and trying to keep it all together. We got through it with my dear partner's help and will be forever grateful for his love of Ruby.

When I got home, I found out that Ruby never got HC today. I told him to feed her the food in the blue pouch (16% Cats in the Kitchen 1 if by Land, 2 if by Sea) for HC, and he somehow found the 0% pouch of Jeopurrdy Delicious in the back of the cabinet to feed her instead. I even showed him the package yesterday but he wasn't really listening. Dudes. No wonder her numbers didn't budge today.:rolleyes::banghead: Now he knows, and it won't happen again.

There was one day when Ruby went into the 50s when we were both at work and I told the sitter to feed an ounce of HC and Ruby bounced to the pinks by PMPS. I was glad about that.

Perhaps I should consider SLGS. I dunno. The only problem with that is I can't increase her if she starts getting into higher numbers, and I have an itchy trigger finger.

Hi Katherine, yay Ruby, finally she’s coming up. Frank must have had some :nailbiting: moments today. I know you had a lot of those moments as well. It’s hard to surrender control, no matter how much you know they’re in safe hands, when your kitty has numbers like Ruby did today. I’m sure you must be home, hopefully in bed sleeping, your mind finally at peace :joyful:. Great job Frank and Ruby. Sleep well Katherine. :bighug:

sorry, didn’t read the previous post about being home and the hc or lack there of :p

Not sleeping yet, too wired. But I have to be up early tomorrow and ready to conquer the art world. Good night, dear Adrienne, and thank you for looking after us and for all of your reassurances. It does make me feel better. :bighug:

And we are SO positive they absorbed the information, but noooo. I hope his face went white when you told him.
I learned to sharpie the % on everything not LC after my husband fed 20% from my hypo bin when he SOMEHOW failed to find the 1000 other LC options.

MEN!! I’m glad to know my husband isn’t the only one. But I do admire all of Frank’s love and care of Ruby!
