What's going on?!
Is my insulin bad? A HUGE bounce?

I know I've been behind on increasing and such, I'm still not sure where I stand in terms of the bone marrow biopsy and that.

It wasn't the cigarettes who was at fault, now they think I have B12 deficiency, despite I have no symptoms and I'm only 3 points below the limit, which isn't unusual for me, and a followup test always shows there's nothing with my B12.
My thrombocytes is increasing, as I understand - if I had B12 deficiency it should go the other way.

I'm scared that something is really wrong and no one is going to catch it in time....
But I'm still only smoking 5-7 cigarettes a day!

So... it's not an excuse to not take care of Mauer... I know. Just an explanation as to why I've been away and been so slow

Anyone who has a suggestion on what to do about Mauer? I increased yesterday, she usually responds in the second cycle...

She's aiming for the moon today... :banghead:

I hope you get your health concerns addressed soon. It sounds very anxiety provoking.

One immediate thought is that we don't usually suggest that your do "micro" adjustments to the dose unless your cat is very close to being tightly regulated/in remission. In other words, rather than giving a "fat" dose, it may have been better to increase by 0.25u. It also looks like you've been holding doses longer than needed if you're following TR.

It may also not be a bad idea to have Mauer checked over by your vet if the higher numbers persist more than a day or two. Infections or inflammations can cause a rise in numbers. You noted that Mauer has FORL -- could he be having a dental problem?

Sorry to hear you are still having health issues and no answers. How frustrating and exhausting! You aren’t getting enough sleep for sure which can’t be helping. Sienne got here before me. When was his last vet visit?

I know about the micro dosing, it was to keep her in good numbers while I got my health sorted out. She was green not too long ago, and I wasn't planning on it taking so long.

Good idea about the vet, I'll call her tomorrow and ask what she thinks!

Just made the call, 4 minutes before closing. She thinks I need to wait and see....
I'll check her ketones, it is above 0.4 that's a trace?
She hasn't seen the vet in a year.

It's very frustrating. I've been down with the flu too, and I keep having night sweats...
I'm hoping tomorrow's blood test will show I am needing B12, and hopefully that will be the end of it. But I don't think so....

It's been a year since she had a check up. So maybe that isn't a bad idea.
But could it "just" be a bounce?

At her age it’s good to get an exam every 6 months so I would schedule one when convenient for you. It could be as simple as she needs a teeth cleaning. You want to catch things before they become a problem and are easy to treat.

My vet offers free dental checks so that won't be a problem. She doesn't need a cleaning, and no red gums. The year before she got diagnosed with diabetes her vet, who is a dental specialist, said she's never seen such beautiful, clean and healthy teeth in a ten year old cat.

I think she's on her way down now.. thank God.

Hi Sasha! Good to hear from you. I have been thinking about you! Hope the health issues get sorted soon. Not knowing sometimes is the worst.

Mauer, be a good cat and stay low!

Sorry to be a late responder, but it looks like you got some answers about Mauer. Now if only you could get answers for you. :bighug::bighug:

2.6 is where you start to worry. But a rising trend means keep a closer eye on her. Ketones, Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), and Blood Ketone Meters

You might have seen some New Dose Wonkiness today, which often show up around cycle 2 of the increase. I too experimented with fattening the dose on increases but found it didn't work. Sklnnying on the way down did.

Better late than never :D
Yeah, I'd like to know what's going on, it feels like I've spent my entire summer on worrying

I think I can cancel the ketone reading, she's on her way down. Thankfully!
I didn't want to do a fat 2.75, so I just made a regular to start from.
But perhaps it's a good idea not to take full reductions, but skinnying them? It seems there's no middle way for her..
If only they'd do as we wanted them to :D

Usually cycle two is where I see an effect from the increase. First cycle is... nothing to talk about, but the second. I was expecting something else and got worried when it didn't happen  and today I have plans... wanna bet she shows how 2.75U is working?

Hi Karen!
I've been thinking about you and Herc too!
Not knowing is the worst... if I only knew something..

She better get back on track now!

I hope you get some answers for your health soon and it's something easily dealt with. I hope Mauer starts working the new dose soon. Sending prayers.

Hi Sasha! I've missed your amusing posts, really sorry things are still uncertain for you. Also, it looks like it's time for me to say "MAUER!! THESE COLOURS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!" Because obviously that works better than insulin.... o_O:rolleyes::bighug::bighug:

It's really time, Liz! I'm hoping today is the day, if not she'll get 3U tonight.
How is the wonderful Minnie doing?:bighug:

Great you are getting blood tests, Sasha. I hope you made a covid test too because, that's covid/and/or the covid vaccins, the blood clothing, trombocytes.

Do you have any other in your home, that can learn to keep Mauer's diabetes in check, to off load you?
