Morning Steven, boy looks like Oreo might be headed for a drop dose soon.
I don't know if you add a little water to his wet food, if not we all add a little water to it. I hope you and Oreo (aka little piggy :p) have a good day :cat:

Looks like the skipped shot barely made a difference. Nice to see your AMPS and PMPS are in the greens. Your boy is headed toward remission Steven. Lucky you. Hang in a little longer. You still have one more dose to go down to but I'll the pros advise on that. Get him in all greens for several days then ask for advice.

And I have to find syringes today b/c the ones I have have 12mm needle and I tried pressing hard in the plunger to see if it will drop dose and I can’t see anything come out the needle when I test with these

  • U-100 3/10cc syringes with half unit markings are the best to use for drawing Lantus, Basaglar, or Levemir from vials, cartridges, and pens.
  • BD Ultra-Fine, CarePoint Vet, , GNP, UltiCare Vet Rx, Sure Comfort, and ReliOn are just some of the brands available with half unit markings.
  • Syringes come in ½ inch or 5/16 inch needle lengths. Needle gauges are 29, 30 or 31 (31 being the thinnest)
@Steven Oreos Dad
You might need a script for these from your vet or she can call them and fax it over

Well I found out that per our county and no longer requires prescriptions for syringes however some pharmacies still do Walmart does not. So even though I have an RX and ordered 31 gauge 6mm 3/10 they’re literally sitting on a shelf behind the pharmacy and are sold based on people just asking for them and even if you’ve ordered them they’re not accounted for to give to you. The pharmacy Tommy just come in the morning they get orders every night you’re very popular syringes

I’ll ass this to my cartZ will be much easier to get those. And they are only 2mm longer needle
Are you saying the ones from Amazon are longer than yours,
Which ones are you using now
@Steven Oreos Dad
When you get down to a drop dose
Push the plunger in hard , then insert it into the pen or vial, then let go over the plunger
When giving the insulin leave it in for about 10 seconds

Oreo needs to be in normal numbers for 7 days, 50-99 for 7 days or a drop under 50 to go to the drop dose.
Ok so I would only drop dose during the next 7 days IF he falls below 50 and that is based on the PS or any time his falls below 50 the next Dose time I would drop dose?

If Oreo's numbers including his pre shots are 50-99 for 7 full days then you can start the drop dose
Or if Oreo drops under 50 at any time then you can start the drop dose
Am I correct
@tiffmaxee

I thought you should not give insulin if you are on TR and kitty drops below 50 at preshot? Maybe I am confused.

Good catch on that 53. Steven. You might want to try to get more test in when Oreo goes that low. I assume you do not work on the weekend. This is a good time to try and get some more test. I'm glad you fed him something with that 53. I hope it was at least medium carb.

If the amps or pmps is under 50, stall, don’t feed, and retest in 20 minutes. You would then shoot a drop dose if 50 or over and feed. If still under 50, feed a teaspoon and test in 20-30 minutes. Post for help if any doubt, put stalling or should I shoot in the subject. Don’t shoot under 50 ever. Make sense?

Hi Steven. Great AMPS for Oreo.:cat:Hope you had the best time at Disneyland :joyful:. His numbers are looking so good. I can see remission hopefully in the near future. I believe they have “patience pants” in men’s sizes as well :p. Hope you and Oreo have a wonderful weekend. :):cat:

Thank you! Was sure nice to get away for the day.
I need patience pants for sure

I asked Elise( tiffmaxee) and this is correct about when to start a drop dose

She also answered Summer and Susie's question #26 take a look and she answered her #31
You replied OK sounds good Thank you

I just don't want you to get confused about the drop dose also
I would still post and ask for help if Oreo's pre shot AMPS or PMPS is under 50 and ask for advice

@Steven Oreos Dad

I would also read what Elise told Summer in post #30
I copied it below
