Just get some rest tonight Summer and tomorrow you can see with fresh eyes and a rested mind. Her bounce into the pink tonight - it just happens like this sometime. She won't stay there long. Pearl would do that on occasion also, at a time when I felt she was really making progress towards being regulated and getting more blue numbers on a steady basis. So don't worry she is in good company! :bighug:

Thank you for your perspective, Margaret. I feel better this morning. :)

That 334 at +2 pm was heartbreaking

Try to roll with it Summer. It's a bounce, it happens. I'm sure you've seen the pancreas story that I wrote last year for some other members, right? Sorta explains the whole thing with these high numbers.

Don't despair over those high numbers...it's just a phase she's going thru...her defense system is working perfectly!

Hang in there! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks, Sue. I don't know if I saw your story. I've only been on this site since December. Luci had a good day yesterday. Hope you and your husband are well. It has been really hot here in your "home-away-from-home" Florida. I hope you are having better weather.

Ah, I wasn't sure - it's been shared several times and I can't remember who's read it and who's not... I wrote this on 8/24/20 for a couple of members who were having trouble with the bouncing kitty syndrome... and this is kind of a cartoon explanation of what happens when that happens...I mean it's not like we can lift up the hood and have a look under there to see what's going on - and I know those crazy numbers are so distressing to see!

It's been awfully hot here too! We actually like the warm/hot weather - but that's just us. Many people here don't have A/C or don't want to use it for whatever reason - not me! So I can escape the heat and hide out inside or gaze at our cold pool - heater is currently not working - and the replacement isn't here yet! But it's on the way!

I hope it cools off soon..it'll be here first, then we'll send some of that cold air down your way...DH is improving daily! Monday will be 6 weeks since surgery and he's healing beautifully! This procedure has gone so much easier than the knee replacement - thankfully! It's been a rough month - but thankfully I believe he's improving enough to help out around here and off-load my duties - so for me it's back to the usual routine - work, house, Luci...you know the drill! :)

Have a great day and I hope Susie's number slide back on down for you soon. Tell her not to look at Luci's SS - Luci does what Luci wants to do...she can't read the manual either. :bighug::bighug:

I wish I could draw a picture of that little pancreas...it's got a little tired face today on your kitties @@Butters & Lyla and @@Lisa & Oberon - that little guy is just pooped out...and has it's little tiny feet up on the sofa...just kinda taking a little nap...only problem is it's so tired and worn out, it's having trouble waking up from that nap...

So while that little guy is resting, help him out and gently, slowly and carefully, increase the dose of 'helper juice' aka insulin - that you're giving. The thing with these little pancreas fellows, is the darn thing wakes up from it's nap and gets all energized and says, 'Hey I can help!'...and starts making insulin and making a contribution...and that's when you've got to back off from the help aka insulin you're giving...and let the little fellow help out...but then he'll get tired again...and well 'sigh'...just gotta sit down and maybe even put it's tiny feet up again and take another snooze...how long will he rest for this time? No one really knows...but when you're helping with the insulin you give and get those greens, it's really hard to tell if he's actually allowing a little bit of homegrown insulin go...or if he's holding onto it tightly while he's resting - but the green numbers are healing numbers...so either way, that pancreas is happy when those numbers are down - less demand - so he's not running so fast on his tiny little 'gerbil wheel' trying to crank out the insulin...:D

And then let's not even get started on what Mr. Liver thinks of all this activity...because he's the guy in charge of STORAGE! He's constantly storing a supply of gylcogen (sugar basically) JUST IN CASE! He's a real life-saver when it comes down to it...because when that blood sugar goes too low (from your contribution and little pancreas fellow working a little too much)...then he comes to the 'rescue' and dumps a nice big load of sugar into that bloodstream...because he doesn't want anything bad to happen to those organs - like the brain and heart and other important organs that need that 'food'...sugar is a form of energy to the body...and that makes everyone happy except for you...and well, the liver gets a little over-enthusiastic sometimes and dumps all it's got reserved and then there's too much sugar in the blood stream and that's not really a very good thing either - all that sugar coursing through the veins isn't very healthy...kinda hard on those kidneys to deal with all that sugar then...:woot:

And so it goes...it's a real merry go round in there with all these players...so just test, test, test...and count based on your dosing method - since those are tried and true and will help you with the pace of a healthy progress back towards a regulated orchestra in there...:joyful:

And for now...I'm pooped just writing about it...

Have a great evening ladies :bighug:

@Sue and Luci I LOVE your little story. It was simple enough for even a "pea" brain like me to understand. You should write medical stories for children. To help them understand how the body works in different ways and in conjunction with other organs, etc. When I was reading it I could picture illustrations on little, humble pancreas kicking back and big, tough liver and their side-kick, the kidney twins. Great job. Thanks for sharing it with me. The bouncing is frustrating but when I think about it it is good to know that "big, tough liver" is on stand-by to help - even if I don't need it.

So glad to hear your husband is doing well. I'd love to have a pool (now) and I did a few years ago for many years. When my husband had his first stroke all the care of it fell to me and I ended up hating it. My Mom wanted a pool when we were first house hunting and I said "no" because I knew that the maintenance would, once again, fall in my lap.

Anyway, fall is not to far off and I am looking forward to cooler temps. Thanks, again, for sending the story and for your advice.

Morning Summer, nice to see those blues again this morning.
Glad you had a good sleep last night. I hope you all have a good day ♥:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
Thank you, Diane. Good nights sleep. Nice long nap and I woke up to a green. Much better day today. Hope you have a nice Friday afternoon and that all is well with you. When did you say that Ashley and your Dad were going to get together?

Looks like Susie is on a mission, I hope someone gets back to you about tonights dose. Ashley and my dad will see each other this Sunday, Thanks for asking :bighug:

I'm so happy they will see each other on Sunday. Is Ashley going to the facility your Dad is in? Seems I remember something about someone getting him out (your brother?) to see her someplace else. Anyway, I just hope whenever and wherever it is it is a very happy time.

I’m sorry I was t around earlier. What did you do at +10? I would have said to not feed or at most feed a teaspoon of lc. I see you fed lc at pmps. Good choice. If she is lower at +2 by a lot I would feed a couple teaspoons of 10%. I would not go to hc unless she drops under 50.

She is not eating like she always has. I will weigh this with her numbers tonight.

80 at +2 tonight. I don't know where I got that 105 at +2.

Nice to see the blues and greens after the yellow. Sorry if you found the drop a little stressful. I hope you get a decent night's sleep tonight too. I hope you are well!

It’s a long time until then. How is she otherwise?

She is not eating like she used to. Leaves a little food in her bowl. Maybe that is because her numbers have come down. I need to go get her a tsp of h/c because I want to sleep and it is 10:00 EST and I'm really tired. I think I will go back to the 1.75 dose tomorrow. I'll cut the fat.
