8/26 Tigger amps 392; 2+350 Lantus Not working? PMPS 106, dosing tonight

Past 36+ hrs, BG >200 every reading. Lantus looks fine, 2 + months since opened. Wonder if it has suddenly degraded? Is it legal for pharmacy to sell individual pen in US? I know that for a while they had quit splitting boxes. Also do any of the savings cards work on pets? Insulins Valyou Saving Program does specifically say no pets which some of the others do. Was planning on ordering from Marks in Canada but may take too long to ship. Still have original Vetsulin, would hate to switch back till I could get it shipped.
Any info appreciated.

It’s not the insulin. If it were you would not be seeing green. You shot a reduced dose the other night and he likely bounced from the greens. If the insulin is clear it’s fine. I used every pen to the last drop. Just wait it out.

You also don’t have many mid cycle tests at night to know how low he is going or how much green he sees.

Thanks Elise, will keep checking through the day, 4+ was 296. Will try to get more night readings also. Just found a local pharmacy that will split box, is $25 more than Marks but no issue with having shipped to South FL in Aug. All I have heard about Marks would probably come cool enough but not to take chances might be better till cooler here. Lantus I have was bought off an individual and it was 88 degrees on arrival. New studies are saying that cold shipping might not be as much of a problem as thought but only one study, I guess I'm still somewhat leery of mine as it was received in optimal condition.
Does Lantus degrade over time or suddenly just doesn't work. I remember seeing a post that someone thought theirs had just stopped.
Either way I will be getting some soon, it doesn't look like he is going into remission at present and will need another pen either way.
Thanks again

I can’t tell you how many times people think the insulin is no longer working but it is. I experienced that myself. Your numbers are too good for that to be the case. A pen will last much longer than two months.

@tiffmaxee
Now PMPS drops from very high numbers earlier today. Hard to believe cutting dose Mon evening 1.25 to .75 would effect todays numbers so much. Hate full dose with 109 but need to stop this up/down. Am I better off giving full dose, watching all night a using MC/HC food to pull up or to give lower dose, he seems to really react to sudden downs but he is fine right now at 109.
Any suggestions, stalling

It is better to keep him in more normal numbers as long as you can. He cleared a bounce and that is why he has come down all day. Sorry I couldn’t answer sooner as I was busy baby sitting my sister’s dog.

Thanks, will just have to set alarms tonight. What do you mean you have other things than to just sit and wait for me to have a question. Thanks for all the support. What type dog, Tigger has an Australian Sheppard sometimes he plays with him. He seems to be getting very aggressive with his "play" when his sugar drops, seriously goes after him, the dog gets under my feet in fear. THis is the other sign I'm seeing beside agitation and knocking everything off the table or out of his diabetic basket, like his little warning system which I guess is fortunate but irritating.

BTW 3rd dose was only minimally worse than 2nd. Rough day after, fine the next day. They are leaning toward 6 month booster, same as Israel. Mine was 6 mo 3 wk

I’m not looking forward to that. I was very sick for 2 days after second. I bet you are glad it’s behind you. I hope I can wait until 8 months.

It really was very similar. We have 30% positivity here and hospitals are getting trucks for the dead. Was never this bad before and that was bad. I don't know your health status but I was glad to get booster now. Stay safe.

Lol. Jax is a shitzu. He loves cats but my two are petrified of him. They hid, one on a high cat tree inside the cubby, the other within the motor section of my leather sofa. He came trying to get her to come out for hours. It was funny but I felt bad fur my girls. Before she got to the tree Chai was under the bed and she hissed at Jax and almost swiped at him. He loves cats and just doesn’t understand.

I’m glad your shot. Being a tad short when change anything.
