? 8/25 Cooper’s numbers are trending down on LC diet. When is too low to shoot?

Hi all! Cooper just got his BG tested and although still high at 183 his numbers keep trending downwards since I just recently swapped him to a full LC wet diet. He gets his next dose in about 3.5 hours and later this evening I won’t be home to test his bg for about 7 hours. I’m just curious as to what number I should avoid giving him a dose at and what I should do with me being away from the house for that long later?

Do you have a timed automatic feeder?

I do have an automated feeder that I keep trying on and off with him. He freaks out on it though and tried to flip it over (sometimes successfully). My fiancé is home but she’s not comfortable with giving him his doses or BG testing currently.

How long after the shot will you be going away?

So he gets his shot at 6am and 6pm. 6am is in about 3 hours (I am on the east coast in the US.) I won’t be leaving my house until 4:30pm (when I’m not home for his pm dose one of my parents come over to do it)

So you can test for about 9 hours after the shot and then not until about +5 of the next shot? Is that about right?

Are your parents going to test before giving the dose?

They are unable to test currently as well. I’m working on getting them to be able to handle that but unfortunately not there yet :(
A work in progress….it can take time,, it you are lucky you have someone else to call on.
So your parents will give Cooper a good meal before the dose and your fiancé will feed him his snacks or you will fill the auto feeder…..
Unless the BG is lower than normal when you are last able to test, I would stay with the same dose and food times. If it is lower, I would post and ask for help. Remember that the BG will most likely rise some in the last couple of hours before the shot.
And you can also feed some higher carb food during that cycle if you are concerned he might drop lower.
