Wishing everyone and all kitties lovely and smooth days/nights.

@tiffmaxee I didn't know how to move your post so I just pasted it.

"I wrote it here in case I missed you later. We can continue in your new condo. Fingers and paws crossed. And yes try different times, just during mid cycle or a bit later. Good luck. The hard part will be getting the blood from FCC and not from you I suspect."

When I do his random tests I imagine I feed him as I normally would throughout the day? I do believe you are correct in regards to where the difficulty lies.

I appreciate your help on this.

Yes. You basically go back to testing the way you did before you went on vacation. One more test per cycle. Anywhere between +2 and +6 and can be different times on different days.

Elise (@tiffmaxee) please correct me if I have got it wrong.

She mentioned getting my numbers between +5 through +9 instead? I wonder if it's worth trying to sneak in one earlier test for one or two of the cycles. Sometimes he surprises me with random compliance. Although occasionally that just boosts his feistiness later.

Thank you! I hope you're having a good night.

Yeah she did. Let's wait for her to confirm whether the tests have to be in that time slot and in both cycles. And for how many days.

Sounds good. As I understand it, it's the next four cycles unless I succumb to a particularly vicious fate and FCC decides to feast on me. I am trying to plant little notions in his brain about avoiding curves and not wanting to get insulin pokes. Although I think he would prefer the latter to the former.

I’d just try and get a few mid cycle tests at various times after +4. I personally think he’s already started a trial but I want him to have the best chance for remission so passed this suggestion on to you. If my cat I would get one extra test each cycle. I would not do a carve.

Perfect, thank you. I will follow this advice. I wanted to do a practice poke with him where I sat him down and went through the process and just made sure there was a lot of purring. I figured since I was only going to click the pen once regardless I might as well see what happened and a miraculous amount of blood came out first time! I have to go out for a bit and plan on attacking him when I get home. Then I'll just bump it forward or back a little for the extra PM cycle test.

Thank you so much. I know +3.5 isn't the most useful number, but I figured it's better if I can get a little more info regardless. He is flat and stayed at 86.

You and Bhooma are lifesavers.

Actually a 3.5 is fine. If a cat’s bg drops 3-4 hours after eating it’s a sign the pancreas is doing its job. Not going up but green I think is also a good sign. Don’t think that you need to see low greens.

Thank you. I don't know why his higher greens concern me so much, I guess it's just lack of knowledge. I put food down and I know he ate, but I don't know if he finished it right away 4 hours before this +8. He went down a wee bit from 86 to 83. I will leave him until this PMBG and then the following PM cycle test.

I see you wanted to live dangerously! Not one put two mid-cycle tests? :woot:

I know and I survived to tell the tale! I am thinking I might go for a +9 tonight because that is when the last feed is and then get an earlier one for the second PM cycle, but we will see. I don't think it would be in my or FCC's best interest if I keep jabbing him more than needs be every cycle. If you have any time suggestions, please enlighten me. I will be out for the first half or so of his cycle tomorrow. He has been so flat today.

I hope you are having a great morning and that your kitties are in good health!

IF you do a second one tonight I suggest a +5 or 6. He is nice and flat. :D

Great. Thank you. I will aim for that. Always useful to know when a good time is. If he doesn't turn into a dark monster tonight I think he'll let me.

Thank you for all your help today. I hope you are well and not too exhausted.

I got the news I have been waiting for finally. Let me be the first to congratulate you on FCC bring OTJ! :D:otj::otj::otj::D
I will give you the official directions in the morning when I get to the computer.

That is exciting, thank you. Should I start the new morning as day 1? I very much appreciate you figuring all of this out.

His +5 PM cycle is 79. Here's to hoping that this morning doesn't throw a giant curve ball into the situation.

Congrats on a successful OTJ and wishing FCC a strong and lifelong remission! :bighug:

Btw, Elise will share more information in the morning including how often you need to test now that FCC is in remission. To the best of my knowledge you no longer need to poke him every day, let alone twice a day. :D
