I'm so uncertain how Levemir works and not sure if I should give Jack a Full dose right now. (This is only day #3 using Levemir, switching from prozinc). Last night, his PMPS was 408 and +2 dropped to 383. Is it normal for the BG to drop lower in that point of the cycle with Levemir? He always dropped by +2 with prozinc. I went to bed immediately after +2 and sleep like a baby for a full 9 hours (go me!) and this morning, his AMPS is only 235. What in this world happened there? Is it safe to give a full dose of 5.5? Is it normal for him to drop like that on Levemir by +2. I was so used to prozinc and I have so many questions!

My thought is - Yes, I should give the full 5.5U dose and watch his BG today (I'm home all week). I just would love a confirmation that It's the right thing to do b/c I have no idea what happened to his BG during the night. A 235 AMPS!

235 is a safe number to shoot. You shot almost the same number a couple of nights back.
Will you be able to monitor of you shoot?

The onset and nadir of Levemir is later than that of Lantus and Prozinc. Getting a few tests later in the cycle would give you an idea of where Jack's onset and nadir are.

Thanks Bhooma. I had decided that I was going to give full dose, and I was adding that to my post as you responded. I'm just NOT used to seeing such a low pre shot. I love it!

Seriously though, I do like how you are seeing less black/red on Levemir so far.

Not if you are still following SLGS. With SLGS, no shot if below 90. Those following TR, with enough data and experience, can shoot above 50.
