8/16 Phoenix AMPS 95 Update on B-12 Injection

After stressing out about giving Phoenix a B12 injection, I decided that I had enough information from all of you. So, instead of waiting for my vet to call and walk me through it, I decided to give it a shot.

It was so easy. I sat Phoenix where he sits for his insulin injection. I inserted that big needle with ease and gave the injection. Phoenix didn't even flinch and I don't think he even knew I had given an injection. I am really proud of myself right now. I also feel a little silly for stressing over something so simple.

Yep. That’s always been my experience too. Now if you ever need B Complex that’s a different story. It stings a lot. I’m glad it went well.

Edited. You forgot to put the Amps #.

Phoenix is such a good boy that I don't think it would matter. Thanks again for all your help and support.

I highly recommend anyone with an older cat to get B12 shots. Two hours after I gave Phoenix the injection, I went into the living room where Phoenix was having his after lunch siesta. He had completely torn apart a paper sack I had given him filled with a little oregano. Pieces of the paper sack was strewn all over the living room. He has ignored these for over six months and usually sleeps until dinner time.

I am amazed at seeing results this fast.
The vet told me that sometimes as a cat gets older, he can't metabolize B12 orally or by eating foods. Phoenix gets another injection of B12 next week. I will keep you updated.
Also, my thanks to whoever it was on this forum that recommended B12 shots.

I never use a big needle for B-12 injections. I use an insulin syringe.
