Hi Sherri, realized I didn’t see a thread for you and Moondance for today (Sunday) I could have somehow missed it. Anyway, thinking of you all and hope everything is okay. Will check in again tomorrow. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

@Our Dolly Girl You are so sweet to check in on us! We are still here, but I’m feeling very disheartened. Moondance’s numbers are great, but he’s not doing very well. He’s just getting weaker. He eats well, and still seems to be enjoying his time with us, but whatever is going on with him is clearly taking it’s toll. Moving around, grooming, and using the litter box are starting to get difficult for him. I wouldn’t be surprised if we have to say goodbye and help him move on in the next week or so. We are just waiting for him to tell us it’s time.

In the meantime, we are savoring the cuddles and spoiling him where we can. I am keeping up with the insulin and testing, because I figure he probably feels better with his blood sugar in check.

The love and support here is amazing. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Sherri, I am so sorry to hear about Moondance’s struggles. I know how terribly painful it is to watch our kitties when they are having a hard time and are in distress. I wish I had words of wisdom to offer you. I know you will do what’s best for Moondance. I hope and pray it’s not goodbye. I know how much you love him. Sending my loving prayers to all of you. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hey. What’s going on with beautiful Moondance. Last labs indicated an infection and possibly pancreatitis. Were those treated? I am sure they were, but I didn’t know you then. What’s going on with him now? Has the vet run updated labs? I pray you can turn this around for him.

We don’t really know what’s going on with him. The weakness that we assumed was diabetic neuropathy appears to be some other neurological issue as it has only gotten worse even tough his BG numbers are much improved. He has a large hard lump on his lower jaw that the vet thinks is a tumor; and Horner’s syndrome (his 3rd eyelid is raised on one side, pupil doesn’t dilate normally) which is caused either by inflammation or tumors in the chest, neck, or brain). So, we think he probably has cancer. The vet doesn’t recommend any imaging, because she doesn’t think he would survive the anesthesia. She hasn’t recommended any additional labs, because she really doesn't think there is anything else to do for him. I’m inclined to agree.

He was never treated for pacreatitis, because he never had any symptoms; but he was treated for the infection.

Thank you for the prayers, they are always appreciated.

I’m so sorry to hear this. I understand. I had a cat with oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma before. Poor dear Sissy was such a sweetheart (she had been feral.) We were able to keep her comfortable and happy for a long time, but there wasn’t much else we could do - and nothing that would have been humane or kind at that point either. It is very hard. I will be thinking of you and Moondance.
