Is this a diabetes thing or has Destiny just developed a weird habit? She takes a bite of food, then licks herself, then takes another bite of food, and then licks herself, etc. until she finally gets her whole meal eaten. She eats this way most of the time now.

Is she an only cat or do you have others?

She is the only one. She doesn't like other cats. Or dogs. Or anything else that takes the attention away from her. :)

How long has she been on wet food? If it's new to her she might be neurotic about grooming.
Andy always looks like he just came from the salon. His brother Lewis is a pig, food hanging off various parts of his head. It's a cat thing.
No hairballs or fur-coughing?

She had one hairball a week ago, so I started being more diligent about brushing her. She is more sensitive about brushing now as well, which I assumed was a diabetic thing since she mostly stopped shedding, I assumed the lack of shedding and the more sensitive skin went hand and hand.

@Desi Mom I have to put Fritz in a room by himself with his food. I open the door 15 minutes later and the bowl is clean. If I leave him out he eats a bite and wanders off.

My cat does this, although not to the extent that it sounds like Destiny does. Sometimes when she’s eating she’ll stop and lick her chest a few times, then go back to eating. She always does it after I let her have a lick of something that’s not her regular food, like cheese sauce or butter or something. No idea why she does it, but she did it even when she was in remission so it’s probably not diabetes related.
