So nice to see these yellow and blues more consistently! We are still using the human meter today while the AlphaTrak strips make their way to us via the mail. We're planning on switching back to the AT tomorrow (at least for now).

We will be experiencing an extreme heat wave here over the next couple days. The last time this happened it caused a lot of stress for Taishi and our other kitties (we are not prepared for extreme temperatures here and the kitties are not used to it). I am hoping it doesn't cause his BG to become elevated, but we will see.

Creeping closer and closer to a normal BG today! I am wondering if using the different meter is skewing things a bit, though... I compared the ranges on the spreadsheets for human meters vs feline meters and it looks like they are same, except at the highest and lowest ranges?

Yeah the human meter runs lower than the AT but is closer at low numbers. As the numbers get higher, there will be more of a difference but then you have to remember that whether the number is 350 or 500, too high is always too high.

I really would choose one meter and stick with it. I understand the problem with getting the AT strips so if it were my cat, I'd go with the Relion one and keep the AT in case you need a backup meter (like if you drop and break the Relion, or the battery dies or we had one person here who accidentally put her meter in her microwave instead of the rice sock)

118 at +8. Feeling a bit nervous about tonight's shot, especially while using a meter we're not used to. It's also getting very hot here, which means Taishi (and all the cats) have very little appetite.

What????!!!! :woot:

Great stretch of blues today, @Taishi_Ci ! When is PMPS due? Or did you already shoot and the SS is not yet updated?

We are about 25 minutes until shot time and he just read out at 174 on the human meter. I'm pretty nervous shooting at that number, especially with a meter I don't trust 100%. We unfortunately still haven't received the replacement strips for the AlphaTrak, even though they were set to be delivered today.

I haven't fed him his dinner yet, but he had a good bit of food 2 hours ago. Should I feed and shoot normally? Reduce dose? I *can* stay up with him tonight.

Jessie, just to calm you a bit: around here it is recommended to use human glucometers, the spreadsheets were developed on them and from what i managed to pick up from people around the forum, Relion is a very popular brand used on the site, there is not need not to trust the glucometer :)

With all that being said: nice cycle today :woot: good luck at shooting low to stay low :)

Hi Marina, we have all bugged her quite a bit about this already. She prefers to use the AT :-)

Just tested Taishi again and he's at 199 without food. Considering the margin of errors on meters, is that enough of a change to shoot? That will be the lowest we've shot at... do we have enough data to do it safely? I'd be both excited and scared to see greens, even if it does mean staying up with him!

Probably the final update for tonight. Taishi read at 217 for his PM+2. Going to try to get some rest. We're in for a really hot couple of days with no AC, so need to try to rest now while it's a bit cool :) Thank you for all your help this evening! <3
