8/10 Fred AMPS 416 brief IM update

Hello all. Just a brief check-in from Fred.

Fred's IM vet from AMC in NYC went over his spreadsheet last week. She basically said, "keep doing what you're doing". She advised maintaining basically the same dose, as he does have low points.

I just wish there were something to do about his awful pre-shot numbers, especially in the AM. Clearly, he does get down mid/later end of the cycle. I don't know if he's bouncing by the end of the cycle, or if the Lev does not have enough staying power.

I know that the first answer people may think of is "more insulin". That may get him lower mid-cycle, but it makes the bounces all the more wretched. He already has enough trouble with the peaks and valleys-the drastic drops and climbs are tough on him.

Also, please keep in mind I use AlphaTrack. Blues on AlphaTrack are very often green on a human meter. His spreadsheet would likely look a lot different with a human meter! I've been thinking I should switch for a week, to make myself feel better. ;-)

Fred is a tough one, isn't he! Roller Coaster daily. I'm trying to remember if you every had him tested for IAA or Acro, even though his dose isn't that high right now. Hugs. I hope Fred will feel well! That's most important. Thank goodness he doesn't tend to have high ketones! That's huge, too. More hugs... :-)

He is indeed! I just feel so bad for him. He's been pokey the last few days but has perked up this AM. Poor guy.

He was tested for both IAA and Acro, and both were negative, thankfully. And yes, thank God and knock on wood, he doesn't seem to be a ketone thrower. Let's hope that remains the case! His poor ears are getting a bit swollen lately, so I'm not getting as much extra blood to test for them as often as I'd like.

Thank you @Suzanne & Darcy! Hope you are well!

I thought I remembered that he had been tested and was negative. That is something to be thankful for indeed! He is just difficult. There just has to be a solution to this bouncing... it is bouncing, right? It seems like he should eventually get used to lower numbers and smooth things out a bit? It would be a dream come true if you could just get him into blues!

I'm okay. Keeping busy with foster kittens and the regular gang, who thankfully have been mostly well.

I *think* so?? He's been able to get into blue from his first week after diagnosis. Back then, he'd bounce into the 600s! So I guess there's some progress. But after 7 months, I'm like, "Dude. Liver. Are we not used to this by now??" Of course, when he goes TOO low, I'm praying for a quick bounce. ;-)

I'm just trying to make sure he's as happy and comfortable as can be. I've told him he's very special because they've named a tropical storm after him. :cat:

Glad to hear! It's so nice when they're WELL!

I think you're doing a fantastic job with Fred, but more important so does your IM vet! That's awesome that you got that feedback from them. Keep up the great work! It's so challenging when the cat is bouncy. You can only do so much. Whether those numbers are blue or green, they are healthy numbers:bighug:.

I hope Fred is feeling well otherwise!

@Butters & Lyla You are so sweet to comment with all that you have going on with Butters! Thank you for your kind words. You were one of the very first to welcome me to the forum, and I'll not forget that! I always try and keep an eye on Butters.

Fred is doing well otherwise, knock on everything! I guess the trick is to keep them that way.

Now you go take care of your baby! Thank you again. :bighug:
