8/6 Moondance AMPS 263, +2 302, +6 173, PMPS 200, +2.5 158, +3.5 179

Hi Sherri, wanted to check in and see how you and Moondance are doing. He is such a handsome boy. I want to say “pretty” because he is, but don’t want him to be offended. Hope the testing is going well. I see you gave him an increase a couple of days ago, some kitties take longer than others for the new dose to take affect. Take care you two :bighug::bighug:

Thanks, so much, for checking in on us!
Testing is going very well, and I’m feeling pretty good about my ability to handle the lower numbers that I hope are in our near future (with all the info and support here). I am worried, however, that Moondance just doesn’t seem to be doing very well. He is so unsteady on his feet, sleeps all the time, and just doesn’t look good. We have an appointment with the vet in the morning to follow up since starting insulin. Hoping the vet will have some insight if there is something else going on with him. He dealt with recurring infections all Spring and scored off the chart high on a pancreatitis test in May (though he didn’t have any of the classic symptoms), so who knows?!

Anyway…
I really appreciate you taking the time to check in! You have an amazing way of making everyone feel care for! I hope you and Dolly are having a good day!

Hi Sherri, I hope you have time to give an update from the vet visit. I hope all is well with Moondance. Will check in on you tomorrow. Get some rest and “try” not to worry. Sending prayers for your sweet kitty. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

If he's unsteady on his feet, you could talk to your vet about supplementing with B12, also known as Zobaline (brand name) or methylcobalamin (generic), that is used to treat diabetic neuropathy. It's very common among sugar cats and it's inexpensive and works wonders on those unsteady legs. A lot of cats here have used it and the unsteadiness improves in a few weeks. It comes in a powder inside a capsule, and all you do is sprinkle ½ of the capsule in his food morning and evening.

Unfortunately, he’s been taking Zobaline for 2 months, and it hasn’t helped yet. But he’s only been on insulin for two weeks. I’m hoping the Zobaline will start to kick in now with the insulin.

Yeah you kind of did things backwards. The B-12 can't really do anything until the blood glucose is under better control. Nerves are the slowest healing type of tissue so as long as the glucose is working to destroy them, the B-12 doesn't really stand much of a chance.
