8/5 Mouse AMPS 310 +7 HI PMPS HI Reducing Dose

Mouse is still clearing his first pancreatic flare. At night he has these crazy fast BG falling situations and then rebounds for a couple days. I put food out at night but I have to wake up and get him to eat because when he doesn't feel well he doesn't eat without company. Last night he woke me up and he never does that. I hadn't set an alarm thinking we had one more day of rebound from our jag 2 nights before. We had a snack at +7 when he had fallen at least 250 points in less than 3 hours. He continued to fall and then had just as steep a rebound. My instincts say reduce....Thoughts?

He needs more insulin, not less. I don't know whether you are following TR or SLGS. But with either protocol, you would increase.
He has been on this dose 8.5 days and not seen anything below 180.

I would take him up to 1U and not down to 0.5U

He dropped 361 points in 4 hours. I suppose I'm asking a question to try to reassure myself on my decision I have already made. If he went up to 1 unit what could the next bottom out look like? I will let you know if 7 days how it turns out. I appreciate your feedback I really do.

Ignore the bounces. Dosing is based on nadirs. His numbers are too high and a strain on his kidneys. You also risk glucose toxcity by continuing to leave him in higher numbers.

I agree with Bhooma. He clearly needs more insulin rather than less. He’s used to being high so even the 200’s freaks out his body and he bounces. It work like you think it does. Lantus is dosed based upon how low it takes the cat. Have you read the stickies and links that explain how it works? There is a lot to absorb. If you decrease now your cat will just need more and more insulin and end up with glucose toxicity.
