(sorry in advance for the longer post today)
More super high numbers from Taishi this morning. Despite the high numbers, he almost always is feeling good in the mornings. Active, alert, vocal, asking to go outside (we take him into the yard on a leash). He even seems to have an easier time jumping in the mornings. Lately, he's been struggling to even jump up onto our low coffee table (his favorite place to lay when he's not feeling good) :-( Seeing the signs of diabetic neuropathy in him makes me panic.
We need to get these numbers down to avoid doing more damage to his little body. Taishi has had a couple major medical issues over the course of his life (surgery to remove 2 inches of his intestines after a thread related incident as a kitten, a urinary tract blockage a couple years ago), so I feel like he's somewhat "fragile". We joke about him being our most expensive cat... My husband and I never had a wedding because we spent everything we'd saved to pay for his abdominal surgery 10 years ago.
We are down to our last test strip after this morning. We ordered more from Amazon and they're supposed to arrive "before 10 pm today" (his shot time is 10 pm). If they don't arrive by the time of his midday test, I will probably bite the bullet and go buy a human meter as backup. Of course, if we switch to a human meter, then we're "locked in" to using that, and I was really hoping to stick with the AlphaTrak for now.
Here's hoping his +6 is a yellow!
