Didn't expect to see such a low number this morning! It's a little scary. With it being over 100 points less than his PMPS last night, what do I need to be looking out for? Are there different times it might be good to test (without poking him every couple hours)? With his AMPS being so low, it makes me wonder when his lowest point was... sometime in the middle of the night? Of course tomorrow is the *only* day I have an early AM appointment (normally my schedule is very flexible, so if I *needed* to stay up all night I could make it work), but I can still probably get a +2 after his shot tonight.

When they surprise us with the a lower AMPS, it's hard to tell whether it is their nadir or whether they went lower at night. Sometimes they are flat till PM +2 and +3 and still lower in the morning! Today, I would start with a +2 and take it from there.

Will do! Very curious, since yesterday he just kept going up after his injection. So weird. One of these nights I want to get a PMPS +6 just to see what he's like in the middle of the night. He usually has a "midnight snack" but no access to food between midnight and 10 am. I was thinking we only needed an autofeeder for when we're out of the house, but maybe I need to buy one sooner than later so he has access to food over night.

And thank you for reminding me to link my previous post. I'd been so good about it the last few days but the excitement of the lower 200s got to me ;-)

He was bouncing. His body is not used to yellows so it's reacting to that.

That's no food after +2? You will need to get an autofeeder or leave food out for him. Several small meals through the cycle will prevent him from going low. This is especially important once you start seeing blues and greens.

Exactly my thoughts. I don't want him going too low overnight, so will be ordering one of those wet food autofeeders as soon as I can :) I wasn't concerned when his numbers were consistently in the high 300s, but I know having access to food is important when he drops down closer to "normal" numbers.

Looks like he is headed higher again today. If you can, get a test in the second half of the cycle.
With some cats the onset is later than +2. I can't tell with the data you have if that's true for Taishi.

When you say 2nd half of the cycle, do you mean after +6? So maybe a +9? Just making sure :)

428 PMPS. Holy moly. This is the highest number we've seen since we've started testing. Taishi had such a good morning and seemed like his old self, now this :-(

Keep in mind that there is a 15-20% meter variance so 428 is not different from say 350 or 400. Don't be discouraged by the bounces. They are annoying but unavoidable.

Take a look at Oliver who used to bounce to HI and is now in blues and greens and down to 0.25U

By the time they are diagnosed, cats have been diabetic for a while and their bodies have gotten used to the high numbers. It's going to take a little time to get them comfortable in lower numbers.

Take Taishi up to 1.75U tomorrow morning.
