I switched syringe brands finally because the Walgreens ones were TERRIBLE for microdosing. They had the markings, but the plunger regularly got stuck so I would end up overdrawing and having to shoot some out all the time. It was like magic when I pulled exactly what I needed this morning.

I realize all syringes are slightly different and I don't use calipers, so she might be getting a little more or less right now. In the office today, but I'll be keeping an eye on any changes over the weekend.

Do you run the plunger up and down a few times before drawing insulin? This spreads the lubricant around and makes dose adjustments a bit easier (it's still not super easy since we make such small dose changes...I did magnifying glasses at first and then did magnifying glasses + calipers eventually...if you have a smartphone, you can use the camera as your magnifier too).

Yes, every time. They were just really cheaply made and more expensive than other brands I found.

Which syringes did you switch to?

I switched to the Ulticare from Chewy: https://www.chewy.com/ulticare-insulin-syringes-u-100-31-g/dp/206405

Poor girl… Clavamox seems to be upsetting her tum. We’ve had sick every day since she’s been on it, but no change in appetite thankfully. Picked up some plain yogurt and hopefully that helps counter some of the side effects in the next week.

I can tell she’s feeling better though! Climbed into my lap this evening without coercion with catnip :cat:

So one hour later and it’s time for her shot, and she has no appetite. Didn’t want her post-test treats. Not interested in dinner (added fish for enticement), offered her gravy food, and she just ignored it.

Should I skip if I can’t get her to eat?

Lantus does not onset for a while, so you can do one of two things: shoot and try to get some food in her, anything she will eat, or skip the shot.

My hubs reported that she did not eat much (or maybe any?) during the day. I did see her eat some before I left this morning but I don’t think she has much food in her.
