7/19 ADW Diabetes Supply Flash Sale

I just thought I would share that ADW is having a 10 percent off sale. I wish it were more, but every little bit helps (it will help cover shipping). The code is FLASH10 and it expires at 11:59 p.m. on July 21.
Thanks so much for thinking of us, Suzanne. As I have always said, your presence is important to all of us on this site. You are always helping and we are happy you have stuck around to help "pay it forward"! Besides, we would all miss you if we didn't hear from you. How are you doing? How are your kittens?

Kittens are good. Fluffy Duffy, Daniel Tiger, and Dewey (Cowboy) are gorgeous and sweet. They will be “transported” on July 30 :( for adoption. I rescued four more tiny ones (one lb.) this weekend. It’s a very sad story for me though. Their mama is Rose, she is a feral cat that I haven’t been able to get into a trap for spaying. While I was gone last week something attacked Rose and she was badly injured. All I knew when I got back was that I couldn’t find Rose but that her kittens were under the shed where they were born. The man from the Mexican restaurant who puts raw chicken out for the cats told me that he had not seen Rose since Wednesday night. On Saturday we took the kittens from under the shed. They are doing well and are eating like piggies. On Saturday though, the man from the restaurant, Fabian, td me Rose showed up and she was hurt. She was not in good shape and she was just drinking water and lying around. She had a wound to her abdomen that looked like a bite wound and it stank. We tried to capture her but we weren’t able to and she ran off. We haven’t seen her since. So it doesn’t look good for Rose. I am going to name one of the girl kittens Rose after her mother and the other girl Daisy (who also disappeared about two months ago). Daisy and Rose were sisters. I don’t know what I will name the two boys yet. Thanks for asking. So we had a very busy weekend and actually quite a sad one for us. Something has made many of the cats and kittens that we care for disappear. I think it’s a coyote.

Oh my goodness. You have coyotes in the area? I know that is not impossible but just something I wouldn't really think about in Georgia. Poor Rose and Daisy. I don't even want to know what has happened to them. Do you think it could be a human who is harming them? What about feral dogs. I don't know where you live or if you are out in the country but bless you for trying to help the ferals and their babies. Where will the babies be transported? You are a Saint to care and be helping them. It was always a dream of mine to have an animal rescue organization. Something out in the country with a lot of land for cats, dogs, pigs, goats, horses, cows - you name it. You are doing a wonderful thing and God bless you for that.

Which insulin syringes do you like?
These ones - Monoject Ultra Comfort U-100 Insulin Syringes 29G 3/10cc 1/2" 100/bx

I got used to the longer needles before I used the ones with 1/2 unit markings so I never got used to the Walmart ones. There aren't many out there, but these are nice - individually packed and markings seem pretty consistent, and they go into the skin smoothly.

Sad story about Rose :( maybe one of the boys could be Jack? (thinking of Titanic...though perhaps not the most uplifting name after all, now I think about it)

Donald and Daisy?

We definitely have coyotes as well as lots of other wild animals (bears). A neighbor of mine had her ducks eaten by coyotes (one by one) from her pond.

I like the BDs with half unit markings. Short needle. I have tons of them. Wonder what I will do with them? There are only so many pimples that can be popped with a needle.

Hi Summer. We have coyotes as well where we live in California. It’s really upsetting when one of our neighbors outdoor cats go missing and often found dead and obviously the victim of a larger animal attack. We have hills close by. It’s just not a place for outdoor cats.

When I was discarding my rejects (monitors, syringes etc) I sent it all to https://www.insulinforlife.org/...but there's always the Supply Closet forum here, too. You could even make it local for pickup. When you're ready. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you. I really feel quite depressed. I just got back from a fairly rejuvenating brief family trip last week to this. Today, Rose finally died. We took her body and brought it home to bury in our backyard… between two Rose of Sharon trees. I spoke with Rose this morning before she died to assure her that we had her kittens and we were taking good care of them and we would make sure they would be cared for their whole lives. I feel even more depressed. When will it all end? At least I have kittens and cats to take care of. You really can’t sit down and not do anything when there are mouths to feed and litter boxes to be scooped.

So terribly sad to hear this Suzanne. I never heard you mention her before, I assume one of your civies, not sure how to spell it. You have had way too much sadness lately. Happy you had your brief vacation. Sending our loving prayers to all, Rose’s kittens of course. :cat:. Hoping your life gets some more positivity to lift your spirits. Happy to know you have kitties to keep you busy. Sending healing hugs :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Rose was a feral cat that we have cared for during her two brief years of life. We never were able to trap her - she was too clever. We did trap her sister Daisy and get her spayed. Daisy lived one year after that and then disappeared— I assume a coyote ate her as well. It was at the same time that we lost about ten cats and kittens. One disappeared each day. My daughter is so mad she wants to stay up all night and watch to see what’s out there. Me too. With a gun.

Just got a picture in my head of you (no idea what you look like - but I sort of put imaginary faces for all of you here :p) standing outside your front door pointing that gun with an “I mean business look :nailbiting::nailbiting: . Gave me a chuckle. How devastating to lose so many precious animals. Dolly was a feral cat. Hope you are doing well Suzanne. Losing these animals, Darcy, now Rose, and probably many others, I am so sorry. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I had no idea there were coyotes in Georgia. It is a constant problem in the Los Angeles area. Hopefully, you were able to tame the kittens to find them homes.
That is the only way to protect them when predators lurk in the night.
Hugs for your losses.

Yes. Those little babies are sooo sweet. They will all get homes and have a better life than their poor mama did. Thanks!!
