Starburst went into the vet yesterday and got subq fluids (ckd kitty too). Maybe it is coincidence but it finally looks like her numbers are starting to respond to insulin. I haven't been trying to stick her often because it stresses her considerably and there was very little movement (I was going to get my vets recommendation on Saturday on whether doing a glucose curve at home vs at the vet next week).
A dose of 1.25 should be OK I think....the biggest drop I caught was 250 and even if she dropped that much she should be in low 100s at nadir....assuming she reacts the same way. Would you do 1 or 1.25 U tonight?

It's fine you did 1.25 but I think it's time for an increase tomorrow... Id do 1.75 tomorrow. You haven't seen numbers in the blues at all so we can do half unit increases until hes in better numbers. Don't lower the dose when you are finally seeing progress or else he will always stay high.

Ok thank you

I did, but it ended up being a fur shot I think.
Bummer. Eh it happens. Good luck with the higher dose... I'll be curious how he does. Crossing fingers we at least see some yellow. If the preshot is over 200 it's usually safe to go ahead with the full dose.

How many cycles does it tend to take to recover from a fur shot @JanetNJ ? Or does it vary pretty much because ECID?
She has a vet appt mid-morning tomorrow so I hope we will see her numbers come down mid-morning. On the plus side the PMPS was the smoothest experience for her yet...no hiss, I don't think she realized I succeeded

My cat usually was back to normal in a day but who knows. I am glad you increased a bit today.
