From the Tight Regulation Protocol: (red highlights are mine)
Increasing the dose:
  • Hold the dose for 3 - 5 days (6 - 10 consecutive cycles) if nadirs are less than 200 before increasing the dose by 0.25 unit.
    • if your cat is new to numbers under 200, it is recommended to hold the dose for at least 8-10 cycles before increasing.
    • when your cat starts to see nadirs under 100, hold the dose for at least 10 cycles before increasing.
  • Increase by 0.25 unit after 3 days (6 consecutive cycles) if nadirs are greater than 200, but less than 300.
  • Increase by 0.5 unit after 3 days (6 consecutive cycles) if nadirs are greater than 300.
Since this is Cosmo's first green, I'd hold the 1U dose for at least 10 cycles.

I know you're concerned about when it's safe to relax a little.

You might try to get a +2 (or 3) because the +2 can often almost predict what's going to happen later in the cycle (for some cat's, the +3 is better).

If the +2 is about the same as the PS, it's usually a pretty normal cycle...gradually down to nadir and gradually back up to the next PS.

If the +2 is higher than the PS, there's usually a bounce starting and those are the cycles when you can usually take a pokey break.

If the +2 is lower than the PS, that's your early warning that he might be going a lot lower later in the cycle so it's important to plan on getting a few more tests in until you know he's done dropping. These are the cycles it's good to have a pot of coffee ready! :coffee::coffee::coffee:

:-) thank you. I just screen shot that info about the plus 2 that you posted to someone else on Facebook. I’ll try to get more of those.

Ok..question. These are his first greens so I should hold the 1 unit dose for another 5 days starting now, right? He’s been on 1 unit for a week.

I did. He usually likes a bit of food around midnight, so he got a tablespoon of almo nature chicken. No carbs as far as I can see. Up to 107 so I feel like I can breathe again :-)
I just worry about this happening on a day I can’t stay. Thank you
