Hello everyone!!! Steady and slow wins the race! It's been a long journey but I have finally found Toes dose (3u Prozinc BID). He is doing extremely well and I have emailed my vet his curve data from a few days ago. She is very happy where he is at. I also gave her the websites for AAHA and FDMB. I just want to thank everyone who has helped me along this journey, you don't even know how much I appreciate all the advice I have been given!!! ❤
@Deb & Wink @Bron and Sheba (GA) @Chris & China (GA) and everyone else who gave me advice and reassured me. Hopefully we can get to the point to start lowering his dose but I am happy with where we are at!! Thank you again!!

My email to the vet:

Dr. Frank

He is currently on 3u twice a day, I did drop him down some after switching his food, testing and got back up to this dose. I followed guidelines from the AAHA and FDMB (Feline Diabetes Message Board)

I have found it to be very informative, and I think the food switch and home testing has helped tremendously. His numbers did get a whole lot better after his dental visit as well. Should I have him seen for routine cleanings so we don't experience another infection? I'm just trying my best to keep him in a good place. Also, he does not have any issues with vomiting like he did in the past, which is wonderful! If you need any more information, just let me know. And I will keep a very close eye on him, as I do not want any hypo events to happen.

Thanks!
Nicole Williams

***she asked what dose he was on, I was super nervous at first to tell her I dropped down the dose***

My vets response:

That's great that you found that resource, I didn't know that was available but it looks very informative and will have to start recommending my other clients visit there. I've updated his records to show that he is on 3 units and it is definitely working for him. I would recommend routine dental evaluations, every 6 months for him. Not necessarily a cleaning but check his teeth and see if they need to be cleaned. Also, if he will allow it, routine brushing and oral rinses with VOHC products is recommended.
Please let me know if you have any questions and keep me updated on Toes' progress!
Dr. Frank

****I am so happy she responded so well and will direct her other clients there as well. I did email the website for FDMB as well. You all are fabulous!!!

Way to go!!! It's so great that your vet wasn't one of those whose ego's was so big that they were unwilling to consider a different treatment plan.

It's so much nicer to have a vet that works WITH you instead of dictates TO you!!

Just an FYI....If you're doing the SLGS dosing method (which your spreadsheet says you are) Toes has actually already earned a reduction down to 2.75 due to dropping below 90

You do test enough to be doing Tight Regulation (which I think would be the better choice for him). Might want to re-read the 2 dosing methods and see what you think.

Thank you! I will definitely go back and re-read that. I'm happy my vet is as well. I was scared from some of the posts of others experiences. She seems willing to learn and pass on the information to others. Hopefully more sugar Kitty's can be better regulated or even end up in remission.
