7/10, Susie, 165 AMPS, 91@+2 When Is Her Nadir????

Good start for her day. Thankfully, I don't think she went low last night based on my tests.

@Pamela & Amesthyst or @A Fae As Bob Seger would say/sing, Susie had no "Night Moves" last night.:)

Yes, I got my nap. Thank you, Ben.
Hi Summer. Looks like you are going to have a busy day with Susie. Hope all is well with you. Just wanted to say hi. Will check back later. Have a great Saturday. Susie surf safely. :)

Can someone answer a question for me regarding this forum? When I see the times of the post, at the bottom, is this in Eastern Standard Time?

If you have your time zone set correctly in your profile, the time you see down here is the time it was when the post was done in your time....so this says your post here was posted at 6:31am Central time (which is the time zone I'm in). That way if it's 12:30pm here, I know this post was about 6 hours ago)

Wow so many tests last night, did you get any sleep while it wasn’t light out? :(
Didn't get a lot of sleep. I kept thinking that because she was flat and high yesterday that she might dive last night. Always hard to sleep when you are concerned. My worries did not pan out. I pray that your boy does better with this increase. Those blacks always scare me, Joey.

:p:p:p:pNO NIGHT MOVES Me either not for a long time:rolleyes::rolleyes:
I am so frustrated now. I just don't know what is happening with Susie. She is good one day and then I have a day like today and yesterday. They stink. Maybe I will stop posting everyday. I'll do my best for her but following this site just makes things harder. There is no rhyme or reason to Susie and I am just tired of trying to figure her out. I am also tired of people telling me to stop being frustrated. I really don't get much attention from the experts on this site so what is the point? Thank you to my friends who are always here for me. I just think I need a little break from this site. We will trudge on.

A few tips to make it easier for us to help you. First, you have the question mark icon up so we know you are looking for answers. That is good. You also have a paraphrase of a question. That is also good. BTW, many people here could stop by and answer about nadirs. However, no where in any of your entries today is there any detail about your question. The answer to "when is a nadir" - is whenever the cat has her lowest number. I'm not being flippant. On Lantus, Neko's nadir was anywhere from +3.5 to +13. Some cat have more variable nadirs than others. Other things can change the insulin action, like bounces, insulin absorption, possibly shot location, food, any life stressors, or just plain because they are a cat. There isn't always an exact answer for every question.

Side note: your posts tend to have a lot of chatter. I do try to read most of what is written before I respond, but sometimes that's just more work than I feel like doing, cause this isn't the only thing I do on this site. Our previous moderator hardly stopped and posted on anyone, unless she felt it was something she was uniquely capable of responding or some key information was missing. I tend to the same. There are many people who can answer questions about nadirs - no reason you need a moderator to respond. There are no experts here, the majority of posters are not vets, just people with varying levels of FD experience.

Plus, it's the weekend. Always less traffic then.

You don't increase because a cat bounces. You increase if she needs more insulin based on her nadirs.

As for the comment about being frustrated, scroll back a month on the spreadsheet. She is doing so much better now than she was then.

I'm sorry things are so frustrating, but FD is not linear. You will have good days and days where bounces happen and flat days. That's all just part of the process. I know it's not easy, but the best thing to do on those flat days and bounce days is to give yourself a break and know that tomorrow could be a good day. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Something that was hard for me but eventually sunk in was to remember that Susie is more than just her numbers. How's her catitude? Is she peeing, pooping, preening, purring and playing? (although playing, especially in an older cat, isn't something they tend to do a lot of).

Take a break on the amount of tests you do unless there's a good reason. Like today, that +2 being so much lower than the AMPS it was important to get another test in, but when you got the 140 at +5, it's a pretty clear sign that she was off on a bounce. Instead of testing again, take a walk, bake a cake, read a book... do something for yourself that you enjoy

Summer. I am so sorry that you are frustrated. Susie really is doing so much better than she was previously! I always say that this whole diabetes thing is Not linear! I used to say that to my husband all the time when he would say, “why don’t you just give him more insulin?” There’s a lot of frustration on this board today. Read Kathleen’s post about Fred! I feel like she’s about ready to throw in the towel. At least Susie seems to feel pretty well, doesn’t she? I am no expert… just a friend. Hang in there. I know you will because you care about Susie. And you will remember that you have friends on this board who care … whether we are experts or not!

Yes! I can totally relate! I felt exactly the same way! It takes time to learn all of this (and there's a lot!) and it takes time to learn your cat (or mostly, because they still throw you for a loop). Frustration because like everyone has said, it's not linear, and when you need help NOW there might not be people available. It's not that it's their fault, obviously, but it's frustrating and scary for the person who needs help. Then with the lack of sleep on top of it... Sometimes I just need to take a break from messaging on the board as well @Summer and Susie ;)

If Wendy hadn't posted, I would have said pretty much the same thing. I was reading through to understand your question about nadirs and couldn't spot what your concern was about.

It may help to also keep in mind that nadirs can and do change. Gabby's nadir was at around +3 -- except on those days when it wasn't.

Hi Summer, I came on today to look for today's post and had to look for your last post. If there is a new one, I overlooked it.

I agree with Wendy and Sienne. Cats change their nadirs all the time. Susie is doing a lot better now than before, even with the ugly bounces. Her body is still getting used to the nice greens. Just hang in there. :bighug:

I am not on much during the weekend, but I am on a lot during the week due to being on the computer for work. I'm always lurking. ;)
