Sister seems to have reached her nadir about +4.25. BG 83.
Immediately fed LC chicken and freeze dried chicken treats. Tested again at +5. Now 85.
Should I allow her to surf and retest?
Should I feed HC?
This is the first time I have caught one of these.
Thanks!!
Edit: And after doing some reading, I see that I prolly should not have shot this morning when her BG was lots lower than it has been. I should reduce units this evening. What is half of 0.25? My syringes show full units only.

Sister's numbers are looking great! 106 was perfectly fine to shoot. It's not that much lower than what you've been doing - all still in the blue :) And beautiful greens midday!

Here's a super helpful chart someone shared with me:

BG > 59: Feed LC (exactly what you did!)
BG 50-59: Feed MC
BG < 49: Feed HC

Surfing is good! It's where pancreatic healing can occur. If you haven't already, you might want to read this post: How Low Is Too Low? I would test again in an hour since she seems to be holding the 80's.

In our Sticky Note on Fine Dosing, there is a picture of 0.1 units. That's the dose you should try next.

As for this morning, SLGS says to not shoot below 90, once you have the data and experience to shoot those lower blues, which you have been doing.

Here is the link to your last post here, for continuity: https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB...115-4-107-6-112-8-111-10-137-pmps-128.249315/

Thanks so much. That is really helpful. Is MC medium carb??
Since Sister hit below 90 today, did she earn a reduction or should I wait to reduce since her diet has transitioned to LESS carbs than a few days ago.
I am thinking those greens are due to the diet change.
Thanks,
Oh, and I just ordered 1/2 unit BD syringes from ADW.

With SLGS you always take a reduction if she goes below 90. I presume the diet change is permanent? Usually a couple carbs here or there don't make that much of a difference though.

Thanks! I will look at that sticky note on dosage. Just ordered 1/2U syringes. Since her greens may be due to recent omission of Purina DM and more Zero dry, is a reduction still earned?

Yes, I would try the reduction and see if it holds. YA "Zero" isn't really zero carbs, that's just marketing but it is lower carbs than Purina DM. I presume you are going forward with the YA?

Yes, intend to keep YA around a while since Sister is a die hard dry food junky. For now.
Some mornings, I am concerned she does not have sufficient calories since she shuns the wet (chicken breast, salmon or Sheba Pate dusted with Zero) in favor of the Zero dry kibble.
If there is no kibble, she walks away. She held out for 2 hours one morning. I gave in and fed her Zero dry. So I could shoot.

But at +4.25 this morning I got her to eat 4 heaping tablespoons of FF Purely Natural chicken in broth. Pretty sure it's LC.
I will do the reduction this evening.
Thanks.
