Not sure if he’s bouncing or deciding he doesn’t like the dose but we gave his first dose of cab last night. He wouldn’t eat it in food so I gave via syringe - it’s the first time I’ve tried syringing anything since the gabapentin when we moved; and that was a disaster - he had anticipated the gabapentin based just on the day prior and hid in the hotel room - despite my efforts to block off every crevice and hidey-hole, he squeezed up over the wooden thing the mattresses are on and under the mattress - I summoned super human strength to lift the mattress and get him to give the med. so I’m super concerned if he won’t eat the cab in food willingly and syringing is our only option … ugh.

Anyway - staycation. We are off this week and we don’t have any plans other than maybe a day trip where we’d be gone for about a full cycle. Like I said I’m not sure if his higher numbers lately are a bounce or settling into the dose or indicating that he’s gonna need a higher dose, but with just starting cab I just don’t know what to do - there’s a lot of variables at play right now. The day trip would likely be later in the week. So - staycation/day trip dosing advice welcome!

Sorry no one answered you earlier. Happens when people respond to the older posts. Oh well. Also sorry to hear he won't eat the bacon marshmallow. I mean, who wouldn't like that flavour?

If it's a few days yet until you leave, I might lower the dose to 7.75 units, and see what a little bit less insulin will do to his nadirs. It takes 2-3 days to remove the higher depot, so you should know by the day you leave whether that's enough of a cut back or he needs more. And I think you don't need to worry about those "higher numbers" any more today. :D

Thanks Wendy! That sounds like a good plan. I haven’t gotten calipers yet but I’ll follow the guidelines mentioned on a reply to one of my earlier posts.

yeaaa he went into the greens this afternoon/evening! Woo!

*note:
Started vacay dose 7.75 at PM shot. Considering PM mid cycle readings,
I’ll post question about a permanent dose reduction in today’s post.
