Yesterday on Ruby-doo, We ❤️You! :cat:

Ate a ton yesterday. ✅
Cypro made her hungry and very affectionate and purry. ✅
I'm gonna sit on mom's chest and stare 'til she wakes alarm. ✅

We were cruising in greens and blues for 3 days and then we get this yellow at AMPS. :banghead::banghead::banghead: Ruby hasn't pooped since her runny poos 4 days ago, so maybe if she is able to get a BM going her BGs will go down. I have been adding 1/8 tsp of Miralax to her food and added 1/16 tsp more this morning, because doubling to ¼ works a bit too well. Searching for that middle ground. Increased prednisolone today to 7.5 mg as per her IM.

Have a good day, everyone! :bighug:

Oh no Rubes, not yellow!

Why do they want to increase the pred?
Ruby has not been feeling well. She's been vomiting and not eating, so the dose of pred she was on is not cutting it. She was on 5 mgs because her IM's goal was to keep her comfortable until her appt with an oncologist that we have coming up in about two weeks. Most cats with SCL on pred take 10 mgs. It was working for a while to get her to eat, but not so well anymore. Hence the increase.

I missed the thread yesterday, but happy adoption-versary!

Sorry neither of the girls seem to be up to the festivities, though. Hoping Olives condition (whatever it might be) is mild and easily manageable, and Ruby poops and eats for you today, and no other funny business!

Aw I'm sorry Ruby isn't feeling well, stinks when they don't feel well and there's not a lot within your control to do about it.

When's the oncologist appointment again?

Thanks, Melissa. I put her back on her nausea meds and she's eating again. The appointment is July 13th. I could have found another oncologist somewhere else, but I really wanted to work with this particular doctor at AMC so decided to wait it out.

Less than two weeks now until the oncologist visit. :bighug: I hope the pred helps her. I had one SCL kitty on 10 mg pred to start, then tapered down to 5 mg after a few months. Current one started at 4 mg (but she wasn't quite 8 lbs at the time) and now down at 1 mg. Might want to update the signature.

I wonder if she's bouncing a bit from a big (for her) drop yesterday morning. Or as you said, could be constipation or just feeling blah. Glad to hear the nausea meds kicked in.

Thanks, Wendy. Signature updated. :) I've resigned myself to joining the leagues of pet parents who have long waits for vets. As long as I can keep Ruby comfy, I can wait. Dunno why she went so high overnight as I didn't start the increased pred until this morning. Something is going on in her tummy. She's eating well today but we're still waiting for that all important BM.

Sorry Katherine, I was taking a me day. No shower, no cleaning, no worrying about what I haven’t got done (monitoring Dolly of course)Then…. What happens when my back is turned, I find out sweet Ruby-doo has not been feeling her best. I see you’ve had to increase her prednisolone to help her feel better. So happy the nausea meds are helping and she’s eating. So sorry she is not pooping, not a comfortable feeling. I hope the miralax kicks in soon. You’ve had way more than your fair share of worry and stress. Thank goodness Frank is there for you and the girls. Sending prayers for Ruby and Olive to feel good, to eat and poop, no nausea, that’s the worst, plus poor Ruby-doo’s constipation. Prayers for everything wrong :nailbiting: to become everything Right.:joyful: Immediately if not sooner. Dolly seconds those prayers :woot::woot:.

Sorry you have to wait so long for this vet. Maybe time will move faster once you start your new job:).
Waiting for poop can be quite stressful. Sending many prayers for a nice, normal poop for Ruby today, like right now:cat:.
Hi Lyla, just read your post after I wrote mine. It made me laugh, the “like right now” we both are requesting an immediate fix. Hope you and Butters are doing okay. Her numbers are good, I hope she is feeling good. No more itchies :stop: I hope. Sending healing prayer to beautiful Butters and big hugs :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Oh gosh, Katherine, I feel like I am on a roller coaster reading about Ruby. It must be so hard on you! You have all of my good thoughts and energy and prayers for Ruby and Olive. Did I miss an update on Olive?

The Ruby Ride is a bumpy one! It would be nice to have a stretch of days with not much worry: good eating, regular BMs, and BGs below renal threshold. Those are the three things that would make me completely content. Olive was not eating for some days either with vomiting, so she had an ultrasound yesterday showing some very mild thickening in her intestines and the walls of her left ventrical, but the vet didn't think it was worth moving ahead with treatment outside of Cerenia, B12, and a reconsideration of her diet. I was happy about this as I was worried I would have to start treating her with steroids too. Olive is eating and being her usual self today: tied to my side, running and jumping everywhere and being generally irritating to her sister. :)

If it were me, at this point, I would be giving a heart supplement including Co-enzyme Q-10. VetriScience makes a very good one called Cardio Strength that I had very good results with over the years in CHM cats. It’s worth researching - even though a lot of what you will be able to research is co Q 10 in humans and the heart benefits.
