? 06/29 Roxy AMPS 290. We have syringes! Does this look right for starting dose?

Hey everyone. I finally got the syringes delivered today (went to 8 pharmacies to no avail so had to wait for them to arrive from online order) They are the PD ultra fine 0,3ml ones. So I am looking at them and trying to work out what a dose looks like is easiest to replicate that is in the 1.25-1.5 arena. I have taken a photo and this is with the bottom of the plunger right between the two marks - I estimate this is somewhere around 1.25?

Thank you! So if it doesn't line up what do we do then? Dispose and use a different one?!
Don't dispose it. Set is aside. At some point you may decide to use callipers and then the markings don't matter.

I would try to adjust the dose based on where the plunger was when fully pressed. If it was at 0.5U instead of 0, I would add 0.5u - so draw 1.5U when the dose was 1U and so on. If it was at 0.25U, I would draw 0.75U when the dose was 1U. I hope I haven't confused you!

Finally! Congratulations! That does look to be around 1.25U. It's more important to be consistent than accurate.

With each syringe, push the plunger all the way in to see if it lines up with the printed zero mark. A lot of syringes have their markings way off and that affects the accuracy of the dose.

Good luck with the increase! :)
Whoah, interesting. Gonna go inspect the syringe I just tossed in the trash from today's AM. Advise on what calipers to get? I might as well just buy them now, with my "all-in" approach I know I'll get to that point eventually...

Just found this on the Lantus forum in case the next time you order you can get the syringes with half unit markings in case the ones you just got don't have them:cat:

Buying ½ unit syringes.
We do not have ½ unit marked syringes available here in Australia. However, they can be ordered through a company in the UK which will deliver to you in about a week. The company website is Hyperdrug.co.uk. Here is the direct link to the page to order the 1/2 unit (Demi) U100 0.3ml syringes:https://www.hyperdrug.co.uk/BD-Micr...03ml-pack-of-100/productinfo/BDMICROFINE03ML/.

yeah tried that, mine got turned back by Australian customs :(

Deb, I totally agree with Diane. You need to start testing more. It is dangerous to not do this. Please, get the +2 test in the am and pm cycles and more depending on where the +2 takes you. If it is higher than the AMPS or PMPS then maybe you can skip additional testing (not recommended). If Roxy is about the same, or lower than PMPS and AMPS, you need to test more. When your Roxy starts coming down in numbers these test will be imperative if you want to keep her safe. Please prepare for this.

Yes we will start testing more now she's on a bigger dose. I have mentioned this before and as she was so flat at all times I tested the theory was it just wasn't having much of an effect. I will do a +2 and see where she's at. Night time testing is very hard for us as we are both poor sleepers at moment and have full time, full-on jobs so it's very hard to do. It's also a 2 person job so we both have to be awake. Next time we are both awake at same time in the night I will suggest we do one.

So we just did a +2 and it was 2 points higher than AMPS. - 14.8 up to 16.8. (266 to 302). So when should I try again? In 2 more hours or 3? Or what?

Hi Deb, Since +2 is higher than AMPS, she probably will not have an active cycle. If you can, I would test at +4 and +6 as Diane suggests to see where she goes during the day. It can take up to 6 cycles or 3 days to see the effects of a new dose.
