Please help!! i did the awful mistake to have left a bag of cashew nuts (about 100g) on the kitchen counter. In the morning i woke up to an indifferent cat and cashew crumps on the floor :((((((( His BG is 110 which is surprisingly "low" for that amount of cashew

He is clearly full and of course i expect to lose any progress we were having with the diet :((((

The emergency vet recommended doing an x-ray to make sure he wouldn't get constipated from the big chunks of cashew.

Does someone else have any idea of what else should we look out for?

Cashews aren't poisonous but they're high in fat. (they're high protein too but it's plant protein)

I'd probably just watch him closely....if he stops eating or strains to poop, then I'd consider the x-ray

Thank you, fat is what we are trying to avoid, so from long term point of view not great :(

i will leave the x-ray as an option in case of need

Hang in there, Marina. I did not know that cats liked cashews! In your house they should now be called 'catshews'. I hope all stays well with our Chico. :bighug:
Thank you Liz for your support :bighug: haha catshews

Chico always tried to bite our fingers when he saw us eating cashews, but yesterday i completely blanked out when i took it out on the kitchen counter, forgot what i intended to do with them and forgot to hide them back

Found this on the Internet. They don't sound to bad but I don't know how much he ate. https://excitedcats.com/can-cats-eat-cashews/
Thank you for the link, i guess we will be able to write an article abt what happens if your cats eats a lot of cashew at once after all of this…
he started drinking water today, i am walking around with the water ball after him :( he had very liquid diarrhea and some of the cashew came out with his stool o_Oo_O

Oh Chico Chico Chico! :( I'm always so surprised at what cats will eat. Thank goodness cashews are not toxic, you must have been so worried. Good that you had the SEB and S. boulardii on hand, I really hope it helps him feel better, Marina.:bighug::bighug::bighug:

When i realized what happened I was shacking like a leave on a windy day o_O now this will be a lesson about leaving the kitchen messy before going to bed
