Good morning and happy Friday - been a crazy week here. Pearl pretty constipated and dehydrated. Went to vet on Wednesday. Suspect UTI. Kidney values have increased somewhat and monocyte count is high. I am hoping infection is the culprit.

Pearl's BG has been pretty high green or veeeery low blue - unexpected (higher than usual for her), but likely if infection. Still, she has been on this dose now for 18 cycles. I will either have to decrease tomorrow morning or increase, and I don't really have a reason to increase so probably will be decreasing and hoping she holds steady.

I also received news yesterday that I finally got a new job at my work- hopefully it will be better stress wise and not a bad manager.

Surf safely kitties.

Hope the decrease will be successful. Why do you feel you need to increase or decrease? Is it because of how long she has been on this dose? Forgive me if I am asking a silly question. I just want to learn. I realize that Pearl has medical issues and maybe she will not get to remission but the numbers I see are very stable. Wouldn't you consider her regulated? Do you ever do any sub-q fluids at home? Hope your new position works out for you at work. Hope you can relieve the constipation and dehydration and, again, forgive me if I am saying anything stupid. I'm just trying to learn. Prayers for you girl - and for you, Margaret.

Poor Pearl. I hope she feels better soon. If you think it's a UTI, you can give d-mannose. You can buy it as a loose power or capsules. You can give 1/4 of a teaspoon a couple of times per day by sprinkling it on her food. Sending prayers.

Congrats on the new position.

Oh dear, really hope she doesn't have a UTI. Congrats on the new position, and amen to better managers. Working for someone is hard, but a good manager can make it more pleasurable.

hi Summer! Following TR there are 2 ways to earn reductions, one of them is being in normal numbers for 14 consecutive cycles. This is how Pearl likes to earn her reductions. Technically that’s where we are at now, so tomorrow I try. Generally she flies a little lower green so that is why I am unsure, but you never give up once they are regulated with TR, need to stay aggressive. If the cat is earning the reduction by being in normal numbers, need to take it to keep up with TR protocol. Does this help?

Thank you! I think in my gut it is a UTI. Her numbers started getting a little higher than I’d like overnight and she has a couple RBCs in her urine we are at vet now for a cysto so it can be cultured

Yes, that helps, Margaret and it makes sense. Good luck with the decrease. I think, like you, I would rather try the decrease than the increase. Your Pearl may surprise you.
