It's been a hot minute since I've posted asking for help with dosing. THings were looking up for a bit but it seems SInatra is on a backslide.

We have had a major life change at my house beginning on June 7 and I wonder if that has anything to do with stress Sinatra might be feeling and affecting his blood sugars. I know that isn't the only reason - but I do wonder if it's part of it.

Anyway - even though we had a few days of such great numbers we wondered if he was in remission - it seems not we need to up the dose. 2.25? 2.5?

Help - thanks in advance.

Let's see if we can get Sinatra back on track. With SLGS you would hold a dose for 1 week then run a curve, although we find spot checks now and again can help fill in some of the missing pieces. You've been holding 2u for 12 days, but at the moment, we only can see preshot numbers, and no mid cycle tests. Since we are coming up on a weekend, how about trying a curve tomorrow, test preshots, and every 2 hours for 12 hours, or every 3 hours for 18 hours? You'll likely need to increase to 2.25u, but I'd like to see some curve data first before saying for certain.

I agree with Christie.....without testing in between the shots, you don't know how low the dose is taking him and that's the most important number.

We always test at Pre-shot to make sure they're high enough for insulin at all but it's the mid-cycle tests that tell us when we need to change the dose.

You certainly don't have to test like I did with China (I was an admitted test-o-holic) but you can get an idea of testing at different points in the cycle (If you can) on days you don't do an official curve.

When it comes to diabetes, more data is best! Don't forget the PM cycle too. Need to get at least a "before bed" test every night. Most cats go lower at night so it really is important.

Sorry to hear your life has been stressful...stress and changes in the household can certainly affect the blood glucose too.
