Ok could use some advice now. She is at 339 for her AMPS. Keep dose at 1.5? Appetite is really good, but she definitely has diarrhea. Sending in a stool sample this morning as soon as I get the next fresh one, I am bringing her in then. And now I am only 40 minutes early for next shot.

How many hours from now is vet visit? And can you stay with her and monitor while she's there?

At most, she will be there right before the +3, just waiting on a stool sample, then taking her in. I am not aloud in with her, but I can hold off the shot until it's actually been 12 hours, and then she will be seen around the +1 to +2.

Ok I would do that then, and then we can see about working it backwards tonight. Sometimes vet visits take forever for no reason, so be sure to bring meter and hypo stuff with you just in case.

Test again before you shoot, it's ok if it's food influenced. Right now I'm thinking 0.75-1U; I suspect these are her "normal" numbers right now. Normally we'd shoot same dose whether bouncing or not, but given all the variables I think 1.5U is too much and potentially puts her in a situation where she's dropping and not monitored

Actually, I will be in with her since they are going to teach me how to give SQ fluids. So that's a plus!

So her BG now getting (AMPS) is 539. Still stick with the 1.0 - 0.75?

Hmm. I'd say do what you're comfortable with based on how long your drive to/from vet is. Some of that number is food influenced, but also appears shes hitting a late bounce.

With that recent DKA you want to avoid skips and reduced doses as much as possible, especially since she still has the underlying inflammation.

If it were my cat, I'd give the full 1.5U and bring hypo kit and meter with me. Test her before she goes back there, ask again to test if it's been too long in the exam room, and test again before going home.

Headed to vet right after the +2, should be home by the +3, but bringing her kit just in case. Her +2 is 405. Is that good, bad, unusual?

Neither really. Given the slightly reduced dose it makes sense, but the next few hours will tell us!

Patty:

It is likely the Clavamox that is causing the diarrhea. A probiotic will help. I'm a big fan of S. boulardii for diarrhea. (You start with 1/4 of a capsule mixed in to food twice a day and gradually increase if the problem persists.) It's likely that a GNC or maybe Whole Foods has it on hand. Otherwise, you can order from Amazon -- either ReNew or Jarrow's are reliable brands.

It may be helpful to start another thread when it's convenient. This thread had gotten quite long. If anyone is trying to lend a hand, there''s a lot to read through. You can link this thread to the new one so people can go back and read through if they are so inclined.

Thank you, good advice. New thread is: Cookie - Continued (2nd Thread). I just cross-posted this thread there!
