Yesterday Betty was really not interested in her DM food. She ate maybe 3/4 of her normal breakfast and didn't want her snack... But her numbers stayed around the same they've been.

I found she'd eat a bit, go and drink, eat a bit, go and drink. I wondered if maybe it's the food she isn't fond of, so I decided to get some low carb FF (turkey and giblets) and for supper and snack mixed half DM and half FF.

When I went to test her this morning, I had a heck of a time getting a spot to bleed on her ear (just luck maybe, we usually do pretty good), and her reading came in really low (133).

She tends to drop fairly swiftly after the morning shot, so I'm not sure if I should skip a dose, or let her eat (which I did because she was hungry) and then retest her blood in an hour.

She is also doing the eat - drink - eat thing again.

Any ideas suggestions?

I haven't picked up the ketone sticks... Yet. I've been hoping to wait til payday (Thurs), but if it's warranted, then I'll just go get some.
 
Is she eating? If you can monitor her, you can shoot. Do you have enough supplies - test strips, high carb food, honey/karo?

When you get a number lower than you are comfortable shooting, you stall without feeding and post here for help.
 
She is eating and drinking today...

Gah, I should have stalled her and made her wait for food. :(

I have rest strips, corn syrup (per vet), some higher carb food (though her DM has been ok in the past to raise her up).

I also have honey if that is better.
 
Ok. I dosed her and set an alarm for an hour from now. Thank you!

I'll also update the SS to show I dosed HER.

I'll take off the question mark too.

Well... That seems odd, but maybe we're ok! Maybe it was a faulty read this am, either way, I set an alarm for +2.

I think I'm following TR, based on what I've read, with the exception of ketone checking. I read the TR post and am currently working from home, so I can monitor her fairly consistently.

I am wondering if I should stay on the half unit until she's been on the FF fully for a few days? I'm starting the transition and have her half and half DM and FF (today is day one).
I'm concerned if the ff is lower carb than the DM, will her sugars go lower, too?
 
She hasn't seen any green in 10 days. Let's see if she responds to the threat of a dose increase and gives us some green today. She's almost there.

The change from DM to FF should bring her numbers lower - depends on how carb sensitive she is.
 
Yeah, she's back up into the pink again.
If I were to up her dose starting tomorrow... Would I go to 1 unit?
 
Her numbers are definitely lower today on average than before, so I do think she is responding to the FF. I took a +4 and a +5,and I think I will stay up to take a +6, just to see if it's still dropping or starting to climb back up.

Btw, your thread title has the +4 and +5 in World numbers (mmol) and not US (mg/dl). Looks like you need some :coffee:. :smuggrin:
