Well, I think we are stabilizing on this 2.5 u dose. Not bad numbers at all. I'm okay with it for now. Today he ate more food on his own than he has in several days. That was good. Problem is, he is not passing any stool. We have reached the deadline... the vet said if he hadn't had a BM by Wednesday to get back in touch. I will take him to the vet tomorrow. They have ordered Cisapride for him and I hope hit will be there by tomorrow... but who knows. Right now, he is already getting 6 mL of Lactulose daily. Still nothing! He has been happy and purry... although a little lethargic today. Tomorrow I will get them to re-check his Hematocrit as well as electrolytes - to make sure that his potassium hasn't dropped too low or gone too high (who knows). I just don't know what else to do.
Thank you @Liz & Minnie for checking in on us! Love you both. And we want to know how Darcy's girl is doing. Last time I saw you were struggling with the antibiotic injections. I'm going to check in now!

Hi Suzanne, so happy to see you both, grandma Adrienne worries. So happy Darcy is doing better. Maybe Dolly’s tummy vibes will bring on a poop or two. Too much time at the vet, poor thing. Sending loving prayers and Dolly’s special tummy vibes to make things all better. Hugs too :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Refresh my memory, was and xray or ultrasound done to make sure there wasn't an obstruction of some kind?
Hey Paula. They did several x-rays last week. In fact, I was getting uncomfortable with the number of x-rays being done. They’ll probably do another one today too.

Does the vet think megacolon? Unfortunately common enough with acros. :( Let's all join in the poop dance.
The vet hasn’t said megacolon. I have been wondering because things just don’t seem to be moving. They said it was dehydrated stool most likely blocking him up. Taking him back today :arghh:

Well apparently I didn't post this when I wrote last night. good luck at the vet today....

His s/s makes me so happy! Glad he is eating and happy but obviously the time for evacuation is long past. Let's hope his extra eating today will prime the pump.

There are SO MANY choices out there but this is the shortest. There's another which identifies animal poop but it doesn't have cats! Although every animal says afterwards "I feel so much better" which is what we need Mr D to say. Then he can sing this at karaoke at the next pawty.

That video is hysterical.

Olive had the poo issue. She didn't have the motility to move it out. Once we got it moving, keeping it moving was key. The cisapride twice a day helped with that, she still got miralax twice a day and then vet said to add pysillium husk and she got subq fluids every other day. And she was regular. If I missed any of it, she didn't go. Lot of trial and error.

Thank you, Paula. I want to talk to you about this… the Cisapride etc

no problem talk away.
Paula, how do you dose the Cisapride? Is it a "dose to effect" kind of med? How much did you give to Olive? You said twice a day. He is on Lactulose twice (or split three times) a day. That hasn't kept him from getting blocked up. Yesterday they said his entire colon was stuffed from top to bottom (18 inches). I sure hope the Cisapride arrives soon so we can get started. The number of enemas this poor boy has endured is mind-boggling.

That video is so funny and a little weird, too :-) I wish I had my camera at the ready. A fluffy orange kitten (a foster) was sitting on my desk right in front of the monitor and he was really enjoying watching the Poopity Video. He was fascinated. Got to get these three guys names before Sunday when they go for there first shot.

They were ALL weird. I'll leave you to google 'poop song' for yourself if you are curious!

Ooh what letter for the names? Is there a theme for them? What do the other 2 look like? I am mostly hanging around waiting to re-poke Minnie in an hour. These kind of days destroy my plans to do anything constructive. Had to cancel my massage (pre-race tune-up... beginning to think the race may not be happening for me). Suffice to say, I have time to come up with names :)

I am in awe of you, how many cats (and dogs) do you have including fosters at any one time?! All that plus our favorite Fitzwilliam....how's Tinkerbelle getting on?

First of all cisapride is not a laxative. It helps the muscles contract when they go so they can push it out. It's something you give daily not just when they need it. If I remember you give it 30-60 minutes before eating. I gave it to Ollie before shot time (AM pill was when I tested and fixing bowls for all cats) I wasn't getting up early for a pill. She got it twice a day, I think 5 mg each. It was Wedgwood gourmed treat, she ate it out of hand or off floor. Ollie also got miralax 1/8 tsp in the food I gave her when I went to bed. When she had anal gland problem. Vet said to give psyllium husk to bulk up stool which will help move through and keep the glands from filling up. Being I got Metamucil capsules, I wasn't about to try and measure it out, I just sprinkled some in 2 of her meals.

Being that Ollie got quite of bit of meds I opted for anything I could mix in food or squirt in mouth so she wasn't to stressed and she was a good eater.

And the subq fluids helped, though she got fluids for the pancreatitis which I gave the b12 in.

Ollie only got lactulose twice in the beginning. I did everything I could for prevention.
