I know lovely topic, but how or what is the best way to clear a snotty crusty nose? The snot is a clear light yellow with in frequent tints of light green. I know anything that is a darker green or heaven for bid red is a trip to the er. But how can I clear the snot out of his head.. Cats cant blow their noses. As for crusty I have been using warm damp wash cloths to clean his face and nose. His lungs are clear but he does cough at times. Yes he has a history of upper respiratory infections from kitten hood. Just learned that from his dad!

You can give l-lysine to help fight the URI. If you have multiple cats, give it to all of them since URIs are usually contagious. L-lysine strengthens the immune system.

apparently you need a script to get b 12.. what the fart?
You should not need a script for methyl B12 (Methylcobalmin). Look online for Zobaline, that is what many members give their cats for neuropathy. The only B12 that requires a script is the injectable. That is for Cyanocobalamin which is not used for neuropathy. The methyl B12 will also help with strengthen body's system.

I don't think I've ever heard a cat cough. Is there any discharge from his eyes? Our alternate vet use to run some kind of dye into Andy's eyes and if it came out his nose it meant...something. Incredibly helpful yes?
I desperately want to make a joke about "goes like snot" but thought I'd be more of an adult today. o_O

That is a check to determine if the tear ducts are unobstructed. The tear ducts drain away "tears" to the oral cavity vice having the "tears" just drain away to the fur under the eyes. You see blocked tear ducts frequently in white poodles because the tears stain the fur brown.

Yes I know of the problem your describing. That is not what is happening Magellan's eyes are clear other than an once awhile eye crusty. The cough makes your heart twist it starts high in the chest throat and ripples down the body. Yes your info is always helpful

@Larry and Kitties It won't help here but it's part of the reason I dislike the overbreeding of certain show cats. Sam is a Persian we confiscated from neighbors who have long since moved. They repeatedly got their kids new cats like stuffed animals from Goodwill. I'm guessing Sam didn't make the cut as a show cat and was just given away. After the third time he showed up at our door we just took him with no guilt or shame. There were no posters up, he wasn't chipped or neutered and winter was coming. He's one of the most loving and well adjusted cats we've ever had.
Our vet was surprised Sam even had tear ducts. The area around his eyes is always dirty and after drinking water or eating wet food he usually has a coughing/sneezing fit. If you ever get the chance the BBC documentary Pedigree Dogs Exposed looks at the dirty nasty world of show dogs. Theses people are demented, the German Shepherds that can barely walk is some of their handiwork.
