  1. SLGS: You hold a dose for 7 days (unless a reduction is earned). You decrease the dose when the BG falls below 90. The aim of this protocol is to keep the cat in the 90-150 range. This is more suited for caregivers who can't test as much as TR requires. You do a weekly curve with SLGS.
  2. TR is a more aggressive protocol with increases as often as every 3-5 days. Reductions are earned when the BG falls below 50. The aim is to keep the cat in the range of 50-100 (which is the normal BG range for cats). To follow TR, you would need to get at least one more test per cycle in addition to the pre-shot one i.e. 2 tests per cycle or 4 tests per day. You would also need to be feeding only LC canned food and no dry food.

Thank you for putting these "side by side." I get caught up reading so much stuff and then it gets mixed up in my head. lol Ok, so I'm trying TR and won't settle there for a week. I'll see how his numbers are for 3 - 5 days then decide whether another increase is warranted.
 
Good luck with the new dose and with following TR. I hope it brings you some longer stretches of nice normal numbers. I never had the patience to follow SLGS. :p

I noticed you fed some YA today. Can I ask why?

I didn't read that he wasn't supposed to have ANY dry food while on TR until after I had already given it to him. Why I gave him some regardless of that? We just got it in the mail today. I'm told it's only around 1% carb so I wanted to see if 1. he would eat it and 2. how it would affect his numbers. I probably shouldn't be giving him ANY while trying to get him regulated though, right? :(

I'm adding this from your older post in order to reply on your newer post. We do ask that people create a new post each day, with a link to the old one, and not go back to the old one. With the number of kitties we have on this forum, it just helps us keep track everybody and the current issues. Thank you. :) Go ahead and start a new post tomorrow.

To answer your question on dose, let's see what he does tonight. But I think if you don't see any greens tonight, you'd be OK with going up to 2.5 units tomorrow.
