So after a disastrous couple of days her levels came back down to what they were 3 days ago this morning and so I took a +5 reading and it was higher than AMPS - I thought the lowest should be around 5-7 hours? Looks like hers is earlier? I will try and get a +2 after 2nd dose this evening. Hope OK to use the ? prefix on questions like this, still learning. Thank you everyone. :)

Putting up the "?" prefix when you have a question is exactly the right thing to do. If you do get your question answered, take it down again. Then if you have another question pop up again, put it back up again. Some of us scan for the questions, so this alerts us to have a look.

The lowest point, or nadir, can depend on several things. Some cats are pretty regular about their nadirs. Some, like when my girl was on Lantus, are not. Her normal nadir was +7 to +9 but could be several hours earlier or later. Nadirs tend to be later if they are getting over a bounce. Now that you've been on the Lantus for a week, is there any chance you could run a curve for a cycle? Curve's are a good way to try to pinpoint typical onset and nadir times. And they tell us if it's time to increase the insulin dose.

I will try and do more readings, but she really hates it and it is a constant struggle. :( I will try and do one earlier after dinner as I guess her low must be a bit earlier - will try +3 before we go to bed.

Are you feeding her treats and/or giving her attention with each poke? Most cats grow to love poke session. I got purrs during mine.

Yes very much so, I think it's more the being restrained, she hates it and just wants to get away. She's very independent! Never sits on your lap, only next to you!
