yesterday: lemons all day https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/6-2-oberon-amps-279-4-257-8-208-pmps-221-4-239.248120/

Broke the bounce and then some... in hindsight, I probably should have given him a little bit of 15% at +3 to slow him down. Getting some 20% now (+4) plus regular lunch, and I'll check again in half an hour to make sure he's coming up a bit. Even if he just dropped below 50 he would have earned a reduction (third time at this dose), but I guess he really just wanted to make the point clear.

Morning data (so far): AMPS 168, +3 74, +4 36, +4.5 56, +5 61, +5.5 52, +6 52, +6.5 60, +7 52, +7.5 56, +8 53

Geez... getting 20% every half hour and still barely staying above 50. Nadir for him is roughly around +8, so I'm hoping he'll come up now before PMPS.

Coming up, but we also gave 2 tsp of 20% half an hour ago so it could just be from that. Two hours until PMPS now...

Hmm. 53 at +11. I'm going to test again in half an hour to make sure he's not going even lower. If I have to feed then, it would delay shot time by an hour and a half. I can work with the delayed time; I'm just hoping to avoid a skip.

I'm sure you may know this but you can also feed LC and see if that works - I never did it but it's in this post - see the section on the 40s PS - basically it's shooting as soon as the rise starts - https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB...y-to-shoot-handle-lower-pre-shot-numbers.147/

I was really coming to say yowser on your busy day  nice to see oberon doing so well. :bighug:

Thanks! It was actually helpful to reread that sticky. Fingers crossed that he doesn't drop more. (50 at +11.5...)

I'm also wondering if I should be thinking about a BCS to drain the depot a bit, instead of the new reduced dose (6 U). Probably not a bad idea.

OK... now I can take a minute to breathe and plan ahead a bit. New dose will be 6 U starting tomorrow morning. But I also need to think ahead to my trip. I'm leaving Sunday and coming back Wednesday, so DH and teen will be covering everything. But they need to be able to sleep and be out of the house every so often, so I want to give a vacation dose that will hopefully avoid days like today while not letting him go through the roof. If I start at 6 U tomorrow, I'll be rebuilding the depot just in time to need the lower vacation dose instead. So maybe I should go with a lower dose now to see what happens? But I also want to minimize the time he spends at too low a dose... @Wendy&Neko, any thoughts?

Perfect example of an overfull depot today.:eek:

If you tried 5.5 starting tomorrow morning, you'd only have 4 cycles at that dose to see how he does on it, plus last time it took the fifth cycle before the depot was rebuild after a BCS to see how he did on that dose. However, it might be a lot safer than sticking with 6 units. Especially given the day you had today. And you are only gone 1/2 week, so it wouldn't be too harmful to be at a lower dose for that short period of time.

5.5 sounds like a good plan. I reduced less (proportionally) for this BCS than I have previously, so the depot may rebuild faster. And for all I know Oberon is about to slide down the scale again, and by the time I get back 5.5 may actually be the "correct" dose! I also wouldn't be surprised if there's a fur shot thrown in there while I'm gone... DH has given a few shots so far and they went fine, but you never know. He'll only have to do 6 (Sunday PM thru Wed AM).
