Hi. Cindy Lou’s spreadsheet should be linked in my signature. I hope I did it right.

Last night I asked on the Facebook page about giving a full dose of insulin (1 unit Vetsulin) when her test came up 193 and 195.

Tonight her reading came up at 145. I have not prepped her evening shot yet.

I’m just not sure what to give her tonight.

It seems like every day her numbers are just going down overall.

We go in for a checkup tomorrow and I’ll definitely be discussing this with the vet for future reference but I don’t know what to do tonight.

Hi, sorry no replies yet, doesn't look like any Vetsulin users around right now. Let's get you bumped back up with this post and I'll tag a couple of members so they'll see your post when they're around next.

Have you fed yet or given any insulin? I've never used Vetsulin so the best I can do is point you to the Vetsulin Dosing Sticky that recommends no shot if under 200.

And yes, you linked your spreadsheet right and looks like you're doing great job testing!

No shot unless she has ketones (currently or recently).

You don't have much midcycle data at this dose. I can't stay up with you and not many Vetsulin users are on at night, so I can't in good conscience recommend shooting.

If she has/recently had ketones, you have a hypo kit and plenty of test strips, I'd advise 0.1U and staying up to monitor as long as needed. Any more than that is too risky.

I have to log off now - if you do shoot and run into trouble, post on the main forum with a 911 prefix.

Thank you for tagging members! I did go ahead and feed her, but did not give any insulin. She’s sticking close so I’ll be able to monitor her actions, and will test BG levels a few times tonight.

Thank you for responding! I’ve fed her, and will monitor her BG, but I did not give her insulin. I do have a hypo kit and plenty of test strips, but no way of monitoring her for ketones.

I like the idea of doing a little less as well. Now that the numbers are coming down its even more important to get a mid cycle number. So let's move to 0.75 when those preshots are under 240ish. Now last night you were way under 200 so you Skipped which is safest for me people without a lot of data... Eventually what you can do is stall without feeding for up to an hour and see if the number is going up.

Those are some great numbers so far. We might consider lowering the dose a bit so you can keep giving insulin consistently. :)

You can buy ketone test strips at any pharmacy or Walmart, they are cheap and easy to use.

I ordered syringes with half unit markings, because what we have from the vet’s office is only in whole units. I’m honestly not comfortable “eyeballing” with how tiny the markings are (which is what they told me to do when my other cat was bumped UP to 1.5 units), but I gave her what I hope is .75 this morning after her reading came up at 167.

I’ll be with the cat all day today, but she is going to the vet and I’ve read that stress will spike a cat’s BG numbers? Will it be worth doing mid cycle testing today? Her appointment is about 3 hours after her morning dose.
