Yesterday's thread

Zen got about 5 tsp of Savory Selects for overnight because when we scanned him at bedtime he was in the 60's. :D He peaked at right around 120 overnight. Woke up and he scanned at 53! Got some food into him and did an ear prick and he was at 60 on the Libre and 76 on the ear prick, so we shot. He ate more of his DM pate than he usually does in the mornings (probably because he was a tiny bit low) so I'm going to try to avoid the Savory Selects this morning if I can. We'll see!

Jury's still out on how he did with the Friskies Salmon, but it got him to eat last night, so I'm going to call it a win.

A reply to yesterday's thread after I went to bed:
Do you work in IT / database design?
You figured me out! :joyful: I'm a Project Manager for a technology company. I love me some data. Thank you for the compliment!!! I hope it's helpful to someone down the road.

On this Thursday, I just want to say thanks. I marvel at how supportive and helpful the people on this forum are. You all are amazing human beings. <3

Thank you! :bighug: He goes to the vet tomorrow for a checkup and Libre replacement. I think the vet is going to be surprised with what she sees.

YAY! You guys are doing so great! So much healing going on in those numbers! :D:D:D

It took me about a month and a half to get Ruby tightly regulated once I joined this forum (lost a month because it took me that long to learn about FDMB after Ruby was diagnosed), so you and Zen are on the same track. Congrats. I hope he stays steady for you. :bighug:

He stayed super steady without Savory Selects all morning. We were thrilled! He also finished his first can of DM Pate very early today (because we kept feeding the curve to keep him level). So, we opened his second can when he scanned at 57 about half an hour ago with no food left in his bowl.

Side note: I'm not going to celebrate *yet* but I may just have found a secret to getting him to eat a little easier: I used an immersion blender on his DM Pate and basically turned it into baby food. I think this cat is just bad at actually eating wet food. Hopefully this encourages him to not need us to literally hold a spoon up to his mouth in order to get him to eat!

a secret to getting him to eat a little easier
I add lots of warm water to the cats' foods. The warmth makes it smellier and might improve palatability. It gets nice and soupy and keeps them hydrated. No one drinks from the water bowl anymore. It's there to collect dust. :)

Ever since I started feeding Zen canned food, he has zero interest in the water bowl. We had been adding cold water to it with varying degrees of success, but I'm totally going to try your warm water recommendation!!! Thanks, Katherine!
